Other than the steering wheel, what else was changed in the interior of the k5s in 89?

Also, are the steering wheels themselves interchangeable i.e. can you swap the 89-91 style into an 87/88?

I think the steering wheel swaps right over. I have the later one in my 85 and the inside of the column looks like everybody else's pictures.

I can't think of anything that changed for 89. Trip odometer and mast antenna started in '88? Rear shoulder harness, armrests on the wheel wells and power mirrors started in '90. Fold and slide seats go back to at least '86. Ideas:
  • when did the fabric sun visors start (with mirror light)?
  • was the burlwood trim available?
  • Was locking glovebox an option or a year thing?
  • The brake pedal probably got an ABS pad, but that may have been '90

When swapping the steering wheels. I seem to remember something with the horn wiring needs to go with the newer wheel. It has been a few years since I changed mine.

Try reviewing the GM factory sales brochure.... The rave about what improvements they incorporate in a new model
