Haha, ok, heres a hardcore off road question....

The spring seems to have snapped on my interior door handle.

I pulled on it one day to open the door, and heard a pop.

Now the handle flops around, and doesn't pull back into the door panel.
Still functions though, just doesn't seem safe flopping around where i could open it accidently.

BTw, this is a 94 interior.

I know this will be an easy fix once i pull the door panel apart, just want to know if the spring/spring mount normally breaks, or just probably got detached, etc....
That way i have the parts when i go to tear it apart.

Thanks guys!

Yep, mine broke twice. Got the first one from the stealership. If the handle is original, havta drill/grind the rivets out. Napa/Carquest sell them now. The second one stretched, stuck out but still worked.

So i have to get a whole new handle assembly....plus make sure my rivet tool works?

Don't have to rivet it, I used small bolts. The whole assembly was under $20 IIRC.

Ok, cool. Napa, Kragen, and the stealer no longer stock this part, and its a $60-$75 order.

Fortunately, i found a recycler that had new ones in stock.....$20 :)

THanks for your help!

Inside door handle

FYI
I bought the driver's side at NAPA in Mannford, OK today. The box says part no. BK735-4251 and in the small print "MANUFACTURED FOR BALKAMP INC.........MADE IN TAIWAN". This is for a '98 ext. cab 3/4 ton. I used a #10 x 1/2" machine screw, star washer, and nut in place of the rivet I drilled out.
The NAPA ticket has it as part number 735-4251 and the line as BK. It was $15.79 with the tax.
I hope this helps someone with this annoying problem.

I bought mine from a parts recycler (but it was new) for about that.

For some wierd reason though, it came with the wrong size pop rivets. Just had to buy some of the correct ones.

EASY fix
