Well 4 hrs. after placing 1st in 44 Hot Street and 2nd in 44 SS I was awakened by my neighbor to find the cab of our blue '86 had 20' flames exiting all areas where glass had previously been:eek:.In need of ALL int. parts as rules require full factory dash, etc. for street class. And will probably need doors if close to Ga. And just had new paint job 4 weeks ago. Any help locating parts appreciated.

best recommendation for used junkyard parts to your door...

that sux bad,you find out why it was on fire yet?mybe get a whole donor truck to replace the parts burnt.

Yea it looks like a donor will require the least amount of $$.At least I get to use the roll-on bedliner now with almost no prep.

Ride up to ATL to the Pull-A-Part locations. Was just there Sunday and there are about 15 to 20 80-87 truck, and burbs. Lots of CFC cars up there. Oh yeah they have 2 14FF floating around on the south atl location. Parts are super cheap. Got a jeep door and master cylinder, 73-80 chevy chrome bumper and full gauge cluster for 100 bucks. Well worth my drive. If you go take a wheel barrow!!!!!!!!

After closer inspection I believe the metal got too hot to be used. Everything is warped pretty bad. Looks like I'm on the hunt again to replace my favorite ride. I was really hoping it was the '07 Dmax in flames vs. the K5.So looking for '80s K5 to put my motor in.

I was wondering about that. What price range are you lookinf for? I will keep an eye out on CL up here as I look at it daily. I am guessing super cheap!:deal: My girlfriends neighbor has an 84 85 with 8" lift sitting on 40's thats in good shape. No sure what he is asking now. Its Bllue&White two tone. Last time I asked him think he said 2500 but that was back in June but he has been out of work so might let it go cheaper, I can find out details and PM you.

Thanks for the eyes. I checked cl last nite and found a couple to call on today. Wanted to stay near $1000 as I will have to use my motor/tranny.But may go higher if in real good shape W/lift.

I will get some details on the 84 and take a pic to upload for ya. Got any pictures of the carnage!!!!

Oh yea-just don't have enough savy to upload.I"ll have to get my teen daughter to handle the tech stuff. Also have vids of Sat. runs-the ''before" shots.

Is it possible to replace ONLY the cab/roof section on my 86'? That would allow me to keep the freshly painted bed and have only the cab and doors to add color to.

Cab roof from top of bed up, or the whole cab like a p/u, inbetween front fenders and bed??????? Anything is possible!:hack::weld::grind:Welding is going to be involved regardless what you do, due to the unibody thing the k5's have going for them. If it is just the roof I would be really careful linning up the A and B pillers for windshield alignment and door alignment.
It all depends on what you are comfortable with doing.

Flip side, little duct tape, JB Weld, WD-40, and some caulk and it'll be good as new!!!!:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha: Kidding of course.

Yeah the jb,caulk I'm capable of. Although have some excellent welder friends. Hade a nice looking truck- great for a bogger and don't want to show up in a real pos. But oh well, at least we got a strong powerplant.

There ya go, glass half full! What about a p/u body on the chassie? Just a thought! You would not even have to touch the plant and the drivetrain. Still have to paint it i guess.:doah:

I think the roof portion is do-able. You have lines to cut by on the B pillars, straight across the top of the bed. A pillars is a simple cut. Get card board and cut that to the curve portion of the bottam of the winshield frame and have it stop 4 to 5 inches above the curve mark a line and cut both sides. Then when you get your donor, you have a template to go by so your cuts are in the same location. More I think about it not to difficult. Heck I would try to do it!

No go on the pic link you posted. I hear ya on the K5 look. Just imagine a full top! You know you are going to close one eye and stick your thumb up. he he
