I have my truck interior Line Xd, it only goes as high as the bed rails.

Im getting ready to work on my custom roof rack for the cab, which means, the headliner and interior trim pieces need to come out. I hate the looks of the trim pieces and how cheesy plastic they are.

Im seriously thinking of yanking it all out and then just getting the A & B pillars and the roof Line Xd. I know this will be tricky up at the A pillar, I might have to pull the dash. Not sure it would be worth the trouble to Line X the rest of the cab or just put the trim piece back.

Opinions?

I don't mind the trim, I mind that it's so brittle based on age, so I lean towards keeping it, even though much of mine is out.

It covers up some of the gaskets, so around the doors and what not it looks odd without trim IMO (and if the gaskets have adhesive all over them like mine, it's messy), but the base trucks didn't have trim, so go figure. The screw holes would need be be filled if you wanted it to look decent, unless the LineX would do the same.

Not hard to pull it all out and just see what you think, right? Although not a huge fan of blacked out vehicles, I wonder if the trim painted black would look better in some peoples eyes?

I personally would go back with trim. Yeah, it's cheesy and brittle, but unless you are absolutely positive you're going to love the Line-X, that's a lot of work on a leap of faith. Once it's done, there's no getting it off and there's certainly no re-installing the trim pieces. At least not without a lot of fitment.

Maybe try painting the trim. If it doesn't look better freshened up, you can always Line-X it later.

My opinion.

You can always get new trim pieces. Mine have become discolored with age and dirt. When I pull them out to put in the highliner, I'll clean them up and paint them, hopefully I'll be happy with the result.

I pulled my A and B pillar trim as well as the headliner cause it was sagging. The paint on the inner roof skin was nice and clean and the pillars didn't look awful either so, I just left it all out. Just put the visors back in and called it done.

The roof has an inner and outer skin so when it rains you don't hear it directly over your head like a drum. Mine's been like that for 3 years now and I haven't looked back.

If your trim pieces are in good shape, Linex the trim pieces?

This.

It looks way better with trim. Unless you like the look of the interior of work vans

Coat /Paint/Linex the trim if you wish.

Now, the headliner could easily be replaced with some sound deadening material.

But if i was to do it again, I'd put some sound deadening material up, then recover the headliner in a material that is a bit more durable.
