Alright CK5 members please help me out with a couple questions about my '81 k5 Blazer.
1. The original visors were too small, stiff and sun baked. Does anyone know of a different or better sun visor that work better than original or should I just order LMC.
2. I'm going to replace carpet, but need advice on a sound deadening product? Also want some type of insulation to reduce heat coming thru floor? Then I will lay carpet down. I also plan on possible doing the same under headliner and probably just sound deadener for doors.
3. Which company produces a replacement dash?

I was gonna use a bed liner spray product on inside before I carpet it but read that the bed liner can be toxic? So, need some advice from you guys that have done these things. Please, let me know how things worked out for your projects. I have a 400 sbc w/ a 700r tranny and man it seems to radiate heat through firewall and underneath. The interior is all original right now!

Thanks for the help,
JT

OEM visors are what I believe to be the best quality. But later model had some nifty visors.

Acc brand carpet can be ordered with heavy insulation on the carpet and you can apply dynamat or the like under that.

Next the dash pad that is most like original is dashes direct brand. I got mine from usa1 and it was color matched to the rest of my interior right out of the box.

I put a kit from ACC in my '90, and it didn't have anywhere close to the same amount of insulation as the factory install.
I used DEI brand of the stick-on insulation and bought more carpet pad/insulation from my local upholstery shop.

I used Dynamat Xtreme and carpet pad under the carpet in my '70 K10. It's pretty good, but I know that the big block and auto trans make a lot of heat, so it still gets warm on the floor, just no where near what it would be like with less insulation.

For the visors, Seems like the originals for my '91 Blazer had the pull out extensions on the inboard ends to close the gap around the rear view mirror. I'll have to look at them tonight to verify.

My 89 has that too I think it's part of the Silverado package

I looked on LMC for the visors with the pull out extension but to no avail, I guess I might have to hit the junkyards!
Could you tell me how many screws it has on mounting bracket? Just wondering if it has the triangle mounting bracket with three screws. Thanks for the help.

Mine were the usual triangular 3 screw pattern which I believe to be universal to all square body trucks.

I looked extensively into dashes for my 75. I ordered one from USA 1 Industries because its not some cheesy looking cover, its a complete reproduction of the original. It has the metal foundation, foam then the vinyl cover just like the original. I have not installed it yet, but I took it out of the box and it is faultless. They even made a custom color for me. That really does look good. What is the custom color?
I have dealt with usa1 a few times now and overall I'm satisfied. I have just received a quote for my new seat upholstery to match the rest of the usa1 parts I've got.

I did not like my original "saddle" color, too dark so I went with "camel tan" that only comes in later year. I asked them if I could order a 79 color for a 75 dash and it was no problem, but there was a small charge for it.

I have the same dash. Usa1 camel tan. Have fun with the install, post pictures when it's done!
