We replaced the body bushing in my '72 K5 this weekend. It went pretty well since I didn't have to cut out any floor, but we did come out with 2 issues. First it looks like the body bent a little which is now making the passenger door hard to open and shut. I need to figure that out next, but the second issue was that we broke the Intermediate shaft... as shown in the pics. I am going to replace it, but not sure if I want to go back with original, or just do a more serviceable one with U-joints on both ends. I am not worried about original look. Has anyone done this already and have a good setup they like?
Is there a reason to go back stock instead?
As you can see in the pics, I still need to get both ends off the shafts, so far, they are seized on there. tips on getting those loose without breaking anything else?

Adjust the tension on the body bushing bolts to help with door. Wondering what the difference in length is for 67-62 vs 73-79 intermediate shafts

I changed mine over so many years ago that I don't really remember if the lengths are a lot different, but remember, they are all adjustable.

Thank you Wes,
I will try that tomorrow.

I finally finished the steering shaft replace, went with shaft from Jegs

and u-joints from Amazon

1” DD x 13/16” 36 spline
DEMOTOR PERFORMANCE Universal Black Steel U-Joint 13/16"-36 Spline x 1" DD https://a.co/d/hJFnKOw
3/4” DD x 3/4” 36 spline
WMPHE Single Steering Shaft Universal U Joint 3/4"-36 Spline x 3/4" DD 83mm (3-1/4"), DD end outer diameter 1.62in https://a.co/d/9hvp9xV
End up cutting about 3 inch off the shaft.
There is just enough room to slide it off with all joints bottomed out, each of the 4 points backed off about 1/16-1/8 allowing all to seat well and be secured. So can remove without loosening steering column.

The second picture looks like the set screw is really long. It doesn’t hit the frame when you rotate the wheel does it?

I ordered this one for my 74. Staying with the rag joint for vibration. Says it will fit.
The upper contraption on the stock shaft is worn out and sloppy.
See how it works out.

No, it doesn’t now, but we are thinking about cutting it down a little anyway
