I have a question about intermittent (or delay) wipers. Did they come on 88 K5s, and were they stocl, or an option?

Since I've owned my K5, I've had two settings for my wipers- fast and faster. The thing is, I know there's a problem somewhere in the switch, because there's a lot of travel when I rotate the knob. Nothing happens during this travel, no change in speed, defnitely no delay between sweeps. Also, when turning off my wipers, I have to rotate all the way back (to where I'm past off and it feels like there's some spring resistance wanting to go back forward to off), then let go. They turn off when I let go. Every now and then they stop randomly, but a little messing with the switch always turns them back on.

Any ideas? Where to even start trouble shooting this?

Yes there is delay on an 88. The control module for the delay is actually located on the lower part of the column just at the base of the dash. Its a black box with aluminum fins on it and has a wiring connector on each end of it.

i have the same problem with mine. it doesnt bother me to much so i just let it go. i do need a new motor though they go sloooooow

Never been a big issue for me either, but I'm running out of small things to do, and don't have the money for the big things right now... and I have this problem with always wanting to be doing something... so I start fixing the little things that bug me.

Crap. I just got back from O'reilly's, I thought I ordered the right part, but I got the switch at the top of the column (where the wiper control stalk plugs in). Guess I'm going back tomorrow...
