Does anyone know who sells or where I could get a set of Staun internal beadlocks or something like them. I just bought a good set of rims and would like to try these.

Would these be a good idea? Anyone ever use an inflatable style beadlock?

Any help would be great.:)

Yeah I just found a few sites and they are considerably more than it would cost to run Hummer beadlocks. Think I may go that route.

Thanks

Most beadlocks only lock the outside bead and not the inside. The saturn's lock both beads for relly low air pressure and no worries.

yeah but if you get the run flat insert for the hummer rims then there are double bead locks.

besides most side presser you will have will be in the outside bead.

Hummer rims are double beadlocks runflat or not, the magnesium runflat is not what makes it a double beadlock.

The stauns are nice, but to expensive for me. The work really well, when our group was out testing them they couldnt blow the bead, even when driving on their side.

They are pricey for a few dollars more a wheel you can get a custom made set from Stazworks. Which by the way has pressed centers with his designs as well as plate centers. Just my .02.

Actually, the Hummer wheel REQUIRES either the use of the magnesium runflat/beadlock unit, a Hutchinson (rubber) runflat/beadlock unit, a Hutchinson (rubber) beadlock-only unit OR a custom made PVC beadlock-only unit.

The Hummer wheel will not beadlock neither the front nor the rear beads without one of these units installed.

Many have taken the magnesium units and cut the runflat section off- leaving just a beadlocking unit.

Cutting down the runflats is exactly what I was going to do. Some people I know have ran the runflats but with a 42" tire or larger. I'm running 38's and can have the runflats cut down no problem. Will most likely get a set of Stazworks centers.:D

Just thought that the Staun's were pretty cool. I bet you would get some weird looks running real low air pressure on a 16.5 and the tire staying on the bead.

Yes, it needs the inner lock, but you dont HAVE to have a magnesium runflat to make it work. Its not the runflat that makes it a beadlock, its the inner lock setup that makes it what it is. I thought that was implied, guess i was wrong.

i still wonder if they really are as good.

i think you would get more play them metel claping on the tire.:dunno:

Well, how about driving two trails and about a 1/2 mile back to a parking lot with one bogger flat and the other at 10psi, with a spool. The guy who was testing these was intentionally trying to rip them off the bead, or at least get them to turn on the rim. They never moved.

Here's a somewhat dark shot of a TireLoc system installed in a 16.5" wheel at 3psi...

On the ramp, the tire was completely rolling and curling under that wheel, but the beadlock held it perfectly.

Honestly, I don't understand the people that talk about the "expense" of the TireLoc system....at around $180/wheel it doesn't seem any more expensive than any of the double-beadlock systems I've seen.....and there are no bolts to break-off, or loosen up. And they can be used in ANY wheel.....doesn't require the use of a HEAVY Hummer wheel, etc.....

The TireLoc system is a simple kevlar bag and innertube and adds MAYBE 5Lbs to each wheel.

I think the only confusion here is the verbage. To those that have not physically seen or dealt with the double-internal beadlock setup, it can be a little confusing. Some folks actually believe the Hummer wheel locks the outer bead just because the wheel is a "bolt together" style.

Bottom line: You must use some sort of internal beadlock unit to make the Hummer wheel lock either bead. A Hummer wheel will not lock the front or the rear without something installed internally.:D

I think the internals would be pretty :pimp:. No legality questions, ... no bolts to check.

That's what I like the best about the Staun setup. A little extra weight per wheel, but probably comparable to the weight of a steel ring and the appropriate hardware for it.
