I have an 8 lug D44 how can I tell if I have an internal or external hub and what is the difference. The hub it smaller then the 10b I have it is shorter and it has the chrome cover over the hub because it is a full time axle.

If the diameter of the hub is roughly 3.5" then it is a small hub. If the hub is a fair amount larger then that it is the external hub.

is it fits in the housing its internal. if it bolts on with 6 bolts its external. and not the tinny screws , for bolt. real ones.about 3/8 size.
