Ive been very confused lately about how to identify what kind of hubs I have on my D60 front axle. I think I have managed to find out that this is a Dodge front axle, but Im not sure if the spindles are factory, so I dont know what era of axle I have. Im trying to find a brake kit to go on the axle, and they seem to need to know what kind of hubs I have to get me the right answer.

To the ask: What kind of locking hubs do I have? internal or external? I found this picture which seems to clearly show the difference. Top being internal, and bottom being external. Correct?

Those are internal, specifically those are the Warn non premium line

While I know lots of guys here who replaced those, I ran them for years without issue

As for the brakes, post a picture of the brake, rotor, and calipers. Then we will be able to see what you see
Or post a picture of the rotors or wheel hubs/knuckle if that's all you have

If that is a Dodge axle you got the best version. Dodge only used internal type locking hubs the last few years of their leaf spring trucks, 89-92 I think. It appears to be stock based on that locking hub so it should be 35 spline inners and 30 spline outers.

Im still at work for the next two weeks, so Im limited to the pictures I have saved. This is the best one I have that shows the spindle/rotors/calipers

The only Identifying mark I have found is on the back of the caliper "Bendix 2233451-L" So far, a google search yielded nothing.

Major identifiers of a dodge kingpin 60 is the shorter short side tube. 9/16 studs in the housing. Cast driver spring perch. Steering arms are in the middle of the knuckle. Taper of OEM steering arm is opposite of GM. Also 1/2" lug studs.

So, based on what you have said, and what Ive been able to gather from the university of google, this is for sure a dodge axle. Most likely an 89-92?

Not sure of length of short side tube, but it all bolted up in the Blazer, no problem. And the tires look pretty centered.

Studs are 9/16 for the passenger spring plate.

drivers side spring perch was cut off by previous owner.

Tie rod is in the middle of the knuckle

OEM steer arm was missing from the axle when I bought it.

Not sure about lugnut studs. Ill have to check that out when I get home. Front and rear are 7/8 socket. but that doesnt mean much...

dodge front also by the looks of it .

gm stuff swaps over except for 1 inner shaft thats shorter .

internal hub design .
