i am so envious of you guys in america i want to get a 2".5 inch lift kit for my 1976 jimmy but trying to get it to me in australia is becoming a nitemare as nearly everyone wont ship to australia. If anyone has a shop or knows of one that does shipping to australia could you please help thanks

Welcome to the addiction! You are the second Aussie we have here. worst case maybe some one would forward it to you.

Welcome aboard. I am sure the shipping cost would be ridiculously outrages. So that being said I have a quick question for you. Don't you guys have spring shops down there who could make you a set of springs? Most large metropolitan areas here have spring shops that can do custom spring jobs. You might want to check into something like that before you pay a lot of money on shipping. I would hate to see someone get hosed on huge shipping cost.
Another question for you..... Are you 100% sure you want a 2.5" lift? If you end up getting a set of springs state side it would really suck if you paid out all the money on shipping only to find out that you would have been better off with a 4" lift.

What size tire do you plan on using? What will you use the Jimmy for? Are there local laws on how high you can lift your vehicle? How do you want to lift the rear, blocks, shackle flip or new lift springs? These are all questions you should be asking yourself before getting a lift. I also agree that you should check out the vendors here on CK5. Most of them offer discounts to paying members as well. So basically you could possibly get a better deal if you went through the vendors here on the site with a membership discount.

thanks guys for your responses. I have been to spring shops and the price to just redo my springs is as much as a complete spring lift kit in your shops. I have worked out the cost of springs x4 shocks x4 and drop draglink to be less than half of what i can get it from in america it is just getting it here. I only want to go 2".5 lift coz they are really starting to crack down on trucks lifted and i only want to go 33x12.5 tyres

Hi aussiejimmy,

yes, I know your problem as well. Shipping from the US to Europa is the same nightmare and if a shop likes to do, the rate is very expensive.
But there is also a way to make a shipping with an US adress.

I think you should do a shakleflip in the rear and get some used rear springs 52" and put them in the front.
Cheap, lots of flex and not very high.

fyi i sent some parts to a guy in germany. but he had a friend with a sea box going from usa to germany. he had me send it to his friend. then he put it in the box. when it arived he got his parts.

if you can find a good friend like that that would be the way to go.

and a shackle flip with used 52" rears would get you 4" lift.

another thing to mabye look at is a 3" body lift and new body bushing set. that would ship out much cheeper and i bet your body bushings are old and worn out by now.

But if you remove one leaf from the used rears you can get 2-3"
and make your own flip at the height you want I think

ya but he needs some other stuff to make the 52 swap work right. and he is back to the shipping will kill the deal.

but yes you can do that and run a 2.5" flip kit rear.

I agree. He would have to do the whole cross over steering deal, which would be a whole new shipping deal.
