Hello

My old rust trust 86 for some reason the interrior lights started flashing on while driving down the road this past week. As of last night the interrior lights stayed on with the key off, dimmer switch off etc. I had to pull all the bulbs....any ideas where to start looking...

My guess would be a bad door switch, it's definitely a grounding issue.

The wires going to the rear cab light (inside one) are usually orange and white--if they get pinched under the seat or cut where they pass thru the double layers of the cabs sheet metal it can ground them and make them come on...

Door switch lights have never worked. I always had to turn on the interrior lights via the dimmer.

As far a the interrior back light inside there is no seat in the back of the truck

Can i bypass the doors switches?

Can i bypass the rear ligth

this is a old plow truck so nothing fancy required....

so what I found was a connector behind the drivers seat near the floor on the kick panel there was a connector and than further up there was a connector for when removing the top. I disconnected the bottom connector and I lost all interrior lights. when wiggleing the wire the light that was stuck on when off. so I unhooked the connector for when you remove the top and now it appears I can control my interrior lights by the dimmer switch....
