I've had this thought hit me when i was thinking about a future project i had in mind. A rough sketch of what i want to build at a later date. I love my 'burbs but i also love the crew cabs for the one ton frame. So my thought is to take a 70-91 suburban body and swap it to a crewcab frame that i would box before putting the body on. For the running gear ive come up with a D60/14BBFF 383 stroker (might keep the HP numbers low) then a ranger overdrive/sm465/gearvendors overdrive if i can run it at the same time as the ranger?/then a 203/205 doubler set up with 40" mtr's and numerous other goody's. Its a rough sketch but one i do want to do once things get a bit better and unlike my current projects i want to kinda get some feedback and see if i cant figure out how im going to do it. Any possible issues i could maybe run into?

Q. Why am i even attempting to think of this?
A. Cause im retired, bored, broke and have nothing but time and some tools.
Q. Why would you want to do this?
A. To make my own true one ton 'burb
:haha:

If you want the good highway RPM's and you're planning on a doubler, why not just run the 465 with 3.73's or 4.10's? If you did this, you can use low (the 6.55:1 gear) as first and fourth (1:1 gear) as your highway gear.

The truck would go down the road just fine, RPM's would be low on the highway and you would still have low gears for crawling :pimp:

well 383 id build it that way for a couple of reasons, 1. Having more than 2 shifters in the cab highly intrigues my curiousity, 2. When i was driving for swift i fell in love with the gear splitter on the eaton fuller tranny, 3. As a theft deterrent cause im paranoid about my trucks, but i figure with 5 shifters on the floor plus the 465 shifter having the gear vendors switch on it most will be discouraged.:D

Ezo yeah i know it sucks, ive been looking at maybe eventually putting 40's on my burb.

Dam you had to say it..allright. As another thought to my idea i was originally thinking about taking a CC frame and taking 2 burb bodys and make one 6 door suburban. To take it one farther maybe graft a blazer top to it.

I got a better idea. Bring your tools and your broke, retired a$$ here and help me trick out my K5. I offer room and board plus free float trips and you can be my onboard mechanic during hunting season. You are responible for you own licenses and ammo. :haha:

Whoops, got distracted and didn't finish before I hit submit. What I meant to add was:

Sounds like a cool project. Can't wait to see it! 6 door burb sounds way cool.

:haha:now see now thats sounds tempting, i sorely need to get away for a bit. I think a 6 door true one ton burb would be awesome, Id beat the hell outa her

I had a friend years ago stretch a CC and made it a 6 door with the rear doors being suicide doors. He lives in Yerington Nevada now and i'm not even sure if he still has the rig but it sure looked cool when he was done.

As far as the doors go, ive thought of suicide doors, lambo doors and im still undecided. When i win the lottery.. then ill have front lambo doors middle doors swing up like gull wing doors and the rear doors are suicide with barn doors in the back, or a tailgate that swings out instead of down.

You're going to build one of these?

That would DEFINITELY be a head turner. Seeing the work that many of you do simply amazes me and I love reading and/or seeing the progress because I learn things from it.

And btw, the offer still stands lmao My K5s could use better skills than what I bring to the table. The funny thing is that I think I won't stop until I find a use for my donor 75. What have you people done to me?!?!!? :haha:

Now see, I have been wanting to go exactly opposite your plan. I want a CC on a 'burb chassis (already have a couple extras) with a short little flatbed. But I dig the 6 door idea, that'd be a sweet trail limo.:D
