Introductions & Greetings

My name is Jack, and I own and have owned several different Type's and Model's of 4X4's, I've owned two FULL SIZE K-5 for 10 years now and before them about another5 or 7 if you count all the PARTS!!!

Hello everyone. My name is Shawn.I live in a small town in s.e. Ohio near Lancaster. I don,t own a K5 yet, but plan to add one to my stable next to my 87 C 20 burb and 85 C 10 short bed. Both are two wheel drive, so hopefully the transition to a 4by won,t be to difficult, as far as my diy abilities.I,ve heard lots of good things about the K5 forum.

Hello, I am somewhat of a new guy. Although I’ve had a user name here for 12 years I haven’t been very active here for several years. Years ago it seemed there was a pretty high population of trash talking punks here that turned me off and I never came back. After 63chevyII mentioned this site on another forum I came back to check it out again and it appears as though most of the hoodlums have all moved on someplace else. Looks like CK5 now has a tight community of like minded truck guys. :waytogo:

I have two squares that serve off-road duties, a ’78 K10 that I’ve had since 1996 and a ’89 V2500 Suburban that I picked up in October 2011. My type of wheeling is more of the long distance trail riding, camping, fishing, exploring, type rather than rock crawling or mud bashing. Nothing better than living out of a truck and getting lost out in the desert for a week or more at a time without seeing a soul. Look forward to chatting with you all in the forums!

’78 K10. 17 years worth of project that will always be in the works

The Polar Bear ’89 V2500 Suburban. Cheap Craigslist score. Lots of plans for this ole girl. It will be built for the purpose of following the K10 along on journeys around the Southwest back country.

Hey everyone, I have an 89 k-5 jimmy, six inch suspenion lift 35 inch tires, its baby blue hence the name zoolander (after the movie) Its been a real fun truck for me. I bought it off of a friend three years ago, he put the lift and tires on it, I have rebuilt the engine and rebuilt the trans myself. blew up the rear diff on her last may long pulling my buddies dead 1992 dodge out of the bush after a trail ride, so its probably time to go bigger. Im also looking to put a different body on it, anyone know of any bodies that can swap straight onto my chasis without major modifications to the frame?

I bet that truck is really really really ridiculously good looking.

TH400 with NP 208
36" wheels & 39.5" have i bought with the truck but they need a bit more lift and some trimming
im planning on some stuff

Hello my name is Anthony. I live in cuero Texas. I am a oilfield rig mechanic. I recently bought a 1986 k2500 suburban, the original owner lived in Arizona, so the frame and under body don't have any rust, the body is almost perfict just needs a coat of paint. It has a 350, th400, and a np208, he told me it had a 6" lift but I think it is a 4". 33" trailcutter mud terrains. It has a 8 lug 10 bolt front and a sf 14 bolt rear axle, I have no idea what gears it has the tag in the glove compartment says that it came with 410s stock, that is going to be my first question when I am going 70 mph it runs 3500 rpms that is a killer for fuel milage but luckily it has a 40 gallon gas tank, do you think the gears might have been changed out, are does that sound about right for the drive train it has?

A TH400, 4.10s, and 33s at 70? Sounds about right.

Look in the tech articles section. I think there is a link to a gear calculator.

And welcome to CK5!!!

hey guys - kinda new here - I joined some time ago so that I could subscribe to a build thread that started from "I'm just gonna fix some rust" and turned into a 150+ page build thread... long story short - I never subscribed for some stupid reason, I can't find it, but oh well.

I currently am looking for a K5 to build for crawlin and desert purposes. I don't have the money to buy one right now, but I like them so much I'm joining this forum to start learning the ins/outs of how to build them for flex for offroad design, etc.

Pc "lok"

I haven't a clue of how I'm supposed to post my pictures from my photobucket acct.!! So my title basically means...
...PC "Lack of Knowledge",...:dunno:

My pics are just of my stock K5 anyway,...

Hey there everyone! My name is Ryan, I'm 30 years old. I've had my Blazer for about 10 years now. Didn't get much done to it while I lived overseas, but am home now and have been working on it.

Plans: might take the 6.0L out of my S10 and drop it into my Blazer, get bigger axles, do inside and out with bed liner.

For some reason, I'm having trouble posting. I posted the other day on someone's LS swap. Tried posting today on another thread and was only able to post on this one...?

It's probably me that spiraled out of control....http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283048

Hello

My name is Nathan, I have a 75 K5 Blazer, 350/4spd/NP205. A 4" lift w/ 33s and 2002 Silverado 40/20/40 front seats as well as keyless entry. I do all the mods and tinkering myself.

I previously owned a 73 Blazer, and missed it so much I got the 75.

Excited to be here!
Nathan

Howdy,

Michael here from West Texas. Don't have anything but a Tahoe at the moment, but do miss my trucks. Had a 74 Chevy shortbed 4x4 for my first vehicle and wish I'd never let it go. Last truck was a Chevy dually with 454 that could pull anything I wanted. Am now looking at getting a K5 as I have always wanted one and it just makes more sense than a Vette...LOL. Am wanting to get one that is 4x4 and raised a bit, but not too much. I want to learn how to raise it to where I want it. I know a bit about the engines, but not much on suspension so will be finding some books and hoping to make some freinds here with some knowledge to share. Thanks for the great forum.
