Introductions & Greetings

TBI is way better

Just put a TBI setup on a factory 4v engine, gained 4 MPG across the board with improved response

Just a thought

I wheeled all weekend with a carbureted 350, wishing it was TBI.

We also spent a lot of time trying to get a vapor locked carbureted 350 started in a Blazer......

Did you change your name? That bad this weekend?

So I'm better off rebuilding my TBI right than swapping it out right? My entire dash looks like spaghetti with wires and all. Labor of love I guess. I'm taking an automotive tech class at Pierce College so maybe I'll learn a thing or two about it. First semester is in the fall. I inherited the truck without any mechanical skills really. Learning as I go. Trial and lots of error! Haha!

This is a good place to be. Ask your questions and folks will answer. I agree with the TBI sentiment, carbs may seem easier to set up initially, but they just don't have the dependability of a self-tuning system. Get Injection set up properly and it will just work. The decision gets even easier if the truck already has TBI.

Welcome to CK5.

The wiring may seem daunting at first. But a few good wiring diagrams and a little patience, the understanding of how the system operates will become second nature

P. S. I also wasted some time today waiting for that carbureted rig to get restarted. :doah:

It's better than nothing, but it's not an upgrade, even compared to a basic injection system.

I just want my girl back on the road. Street legal in California too. Whether it be with a TBI, whick seems to be the way, or a carb. I just want to do right by her. Looks like it all depends on m familiarizing myself with the TBI system itself

Welcome to CK5, stop in and say hello, this is a great place to make your first post and tell us a little about yourself/truck. :D
Hello my name is Christina from Sutter California and happy to be among fellow k5 lovers. I originally started wrenching on hot rods, built a 1968 Dodge Dart, threw a 340 in her and drove her till I got interested in German engineering and bought a 1984 Porsche 944. I loved her but hard to work on. So now here I am trying my hand at a 1985 k5 Silverado Blazer 4x4. In love with my purchase of which I bought for $500. Score! The engine is tops but I might have to rebuild my quadrajet. The interior is rough so Im gonna gut it and replace carpet and lucky me , a friend gave me a set of elec Tahoe seats. I have a 3 1/2 lift kit I can put on her but debating if I should. I would love to post pics but dont know how. Any comments or help would be appreciated.

Hi I'm Mark I'm happy to be a part of the community! I've been working on vehicles and motorcycles most of my life. I have a 2000 camaro z28 I'm building a motor for. I ride sport bikes. I just picked up a 89 k5 blazer and now having to put a transmission in it. Hopefully soon I will be able to do a lift and everything else that goes with it.

Guys named Mark are cool. Sorry about your tranny, hopefully the replacement goes smooth.

Biggest thing is start a build thread in the "driveway" for both you new folks, document your build.

Hi, I'm Zane, I'm from Idaho. I'm relatively new when it comes to working on my own vehicles. I bought a '79 K5 about a month ago and when I was researching info and parts I stumbled upon this site. I'm happy to be a part of the awesome community here and I plan to start a build thread soon.
