Introductions & Greetings

:laugh:I'm Matt. I'm from Hutto/Round Rock,TX. I've got an 84 Chevy K10 shortbed that I've been modifying/restoring since I got it almost ten years ago. So far it's got a six inch suspension lift, 700r4 transmission, 305, NP208 transfer case, and 33's. I'm currently working on rebuilding the body and putting a roll in bedliner inside the cab.
 
Well my name is Corey and i am located in Moreno Valley Ca. I recently purchased a 84 K5 for about a grand after getting the registration current. The interior needs work, new door panels, headliner, seat covers, window and door seals all around, the engine temp gauge does not work and the infamous check engin light is on. This is most likely due to the 50 million miles of cracked vaccume lines under the hood and misfire, but im not sweatin that to much. The K5 drivetrain is good for the most part. Even compression in all 8 cylinders of the 5.7, the 700r seems good, theres a little play in the 205 transfer case but thats typical from what i understand in the chain type transfer case. The truck has 3.08 gears with a locker in the rear and 10 bolt diffs. It also has the gas tank and transfer case skids, the Silverado Package, 31's from the factory and some other goodies. I plan on an eaton electronic locker and waren manual hubs for the front, i was told the eaton would be a good way to go and was affordable. I would like to go with a 33's not really seeing a need for 35's and as far as lifts i have no idea. I have been looking around and have heard decent things about the Rough Country 4in lift. It seems affordable but at around 600 bucks for new leafs in the front and rear along with brake lines, shocks, sway bar drop bracket and dual steering stablizer it makes me question the kit seeing how you get what you pay for in this world. Im not looking to launch this things off dunes or get into some serious rock crawling but i would like to hit the trails and play around on the rocks. Well any input and advice is appreciated so take it easy and have fun.

Welcome to the board.I ran a 2 1/2 lift on my truck for years and 33x12.50's. I never had a problem with breakage or anything with that. I just used the truck as a daily driver/mud truck. Never really abused the truck too much though. I steered away from rocks and the like.For a suspension lift you might check out four wheel parts "Genuine Suspension" I've had a 2 1/2 and a 6 inch lift through them. There may be better kits out there though.

Been a K5 fan for a long time just recently picked up a 84, its a piece for junk right now, First project was the floorboards with lots of rust removale and new rockers i now move to the trans that i figured out to be bad on the first test drive after the floorboard repairs...

Whats goin on, my name is Jason. Originally from Denver CO I currently live in Santa Fe NM where I'm going to school. I'm a volunteer firefighter, in the summer I work on a contract wild land engine putting out Forrest fires, work part time at the hospital as an ER tech. I own 2 blazers, an 80 and a 90. The 80 is still in denver sittin at the body awaiting body work. And the 90 is my daily driver and will be the next in line to go into the body shop. The 90 is also a/an emergency response vehicle for the fire dept. Its out fitted with lights and siren.

Hi all, was reffered to this site by a local wheelin site thought I would check it out. Just bought a 1988 Chevy Suburban, not much to it right now but hope to make it into something half ways decent.
 
I'm kent I live in warner robins, ga have been waiting to work on my 1989 chevy suburban have a lot of ideas but haven't had the time to really sink my theet into it and do them. I'm stock other than 31/10.5/15 tires.
 
Hi every one my name is simon , im British 35 years old three kids . twin girls who are 2 years old and a k5 blazer thats 27 years old ! My blazer runs a 454 big block , bored over 30,holley 750 double pumper , 280 comp cam , hooker headers , 2 single chamber flowmasters , I know im british but there is nothing i think that beats the sound of a chevy big block!! Ive been reading this site now for the last 3-4 years and have gained so much usefull info , it to me is the best on the net!! im proud to be on it.
 
Still the best $25 I think I've ever spent. At least in the "bang for your buck" category!
 
Hello I'm Jon I have a 1984 1/2 Ton truck it is a four speed and has a new GMPP 265HP 350 stock axles with 3.08 gears and 31.10 tires. This is my daily drive and I love the truck.
The wifes Suburban 1988 Heavy 3/4Ton it has 285's and the rest is pretty much stock, it is also her daily driver.
Then we have a Pair of novas her is a 1962 4 Door it has a 230"six split header offy intake and a Holley 390 CFM 4bbl. Saginaw 4spd. Mine issa 63 two door sedan it has a full tube frame mopar leaf springs in the back with a straight axle in the front, I have a 375+ hp 327 waiting to go in it. I'll be getting a 1984 S10 Blazer and a half ton frame that I'll be putting the blazer body on.
 
Whats up CK5. My name is Joey Faulk. My truck is a 1988 K5. 350 bored .30 over, flat top pistons. Throttle body. 6" lift, 35 BFG A/T 4.88 gears with a built 700r4 trans. It's my daily driver. I am looking forward to finding out some more info on my truck and finding out where I can get stuff for it.

I don't own a K5. I joined the forums because I am looking to get a bigger truck than the one I have and I have always liked the full size Blazers and Jimmys. So now I am looking through the forums for information because I don't know much and if anyone wants to give me any tips on what to look for in a used truck I welcome any tips.

Okay, so I'm working on this blazer and figured I'de join a community... after about a month of waiting for some feedback on blazerforum.com, and getting none... I'de figured I would post here instead... cause this place is way better.

Anyway, I have an 86 k5 blazer... was a CUCV m1009 model turned into a civilian fire truck with only 6000 original miles. WOOT! Now its my turn to make it my own personal vehical and start driving this rare find.

I've been busy working on it and will get some pics as soon as I am allowed to post em...


So far I have:
-welded up the holes on the roof where the emergency lights were...
-burned out the rust around the window-seal, grinded, puttied, sanded.
-installed a referbished tilt stearing column.
-fitted front bumper
-fitted a sun visor

I plan on having it running soon, but have a bit left to go...

Just joined after 2 weeks of deciding if I was gona pay or not but... after searching the forums and finding a metric ton of info, I figured it was money well spent!

I have an 84 K5 Blazer (Silverado Edition) - actually traded my Jeep for it so, do I get extra credit?
