Introductions & Greetings

Good Day to you all. My name is Tremaine I currently reside in Chicago. I got my first Jimmy about a week ago and I see it is going to be a HUGE under taking. She is a 1986 GMC Full-sized JIMMY plow truck and no one has loved her for quite some time. I picked her up in Milwaukee for 800. I have a laundry list of repairs to perform on her. Can any of you guys lead me to an actual service/repair/shop manual? not the Chilton or Haynes ones. I think I need the more heavy duty stuff. Thank in advance and I look forward to sharing her progress with you guys.
Welcome Chicagoan! My blazer also cost me $800. Good luck with your build

I have no idea where to begin honestly. I see that there is rust around but I think i need to get a service manual. I trailered it in and the power steering seems to be shot and for some reason I can not find anything relating to it. She has a 305 I need engine bay pics so I can see what I am missing.

high everyone. my name is daivd. been hearing about you guys for a long time, thought i should come check it out. i've been 4wheeling since i was a kid. my dad is a big time chevy guy, he has an 83 blazer that is still stock and a 72 that actually used to be mine. had to sell it when i got divorced in 2000, he recently had a chance to buy it and jumped on it. i built it in 91-93 originally while in the navy. 400sb, sm465, np205, d44fr and 12 bolt rear w/4.10's and 35's.. i t was a rolling chassis when i got it. he has the bug to go wheeling with me when i move back to tn next year so we are going to look at up grading it. i actually have a dodge ramcharger myself now. don't hammer me too bad, early blazers cost a fortune out west unless it's rotten. i'll be here from time to time, dad is anti-computer. thanks guys.

I appreciate it greatly. I found out my first job on the old girl. Break lines and power steering pump. brake lines are almost completely gone accept the front drivers side and since power steering is either non functional or leaking out. I purchased a truck as well as a puzzle and a workout. YAY ME!

I need a mechanic's POV!!!

First time writer here...

I have 84 K5 Blazer and just had the transmission rebuilt and starting to fix it up a little bit...:D

Well, the problem is that the engine is starting to stall a little, I changed out the fuel filter in the carb, the air filter, and the spark plugs, and thats when it started doing it.....

What did I do wrong...

Hey Ya'll,
My name is Kevin. I am from Eastern Oregon, where you can do all types of wheelin from flying through the sand, rock crawling, to all out muddin. I have a '85 K-5 that I just bought. It is mostly stock (right now) except for the motor. It got the weak 305 yanked and a fresh goodwrench 350 dropped in. There is plenty in store for this one.

Hi. Name's Matt and I'm originally from Central Texas but I currently reside in Guam compliments of the Air Force. Been in for a hair less than 7 yrs now and loving (most) every minute of it ... haha. Currently driving a 08 Chevy Colorado, but I loath it and hopefully when I leave here in Dec '11 I'll be picking up a '84 or older K5. I joined up now so that hopefully when it comes to buying mine I don't buy a lemon and I'll have a good idea on where to begin with the modifications that will begin shortly there after.

New member Sunk blazer in river

hey, Im jeffro. Im a new member and I just want to say this is a great site. I have a 87 k5 with a 6" procomp, 35 procomp tires, and untill about two weeks ago was buried up to the roof in gravel and water. I was buried so far down that a backhoe was brought out to dig and eventully pull me out. So for the past two weeks i have been cleaning and drainging everything!! I am going to try and post some pics, but not sure if I can. But I did send them to 4 wheel parts "Of road adventures" so many check aprils catalog. So anyway after many hours of work, a week later I tried starting the blaz for the 1st time since it drown. Thinking nothing would work she fired after a few shots of ether. And to my surprise everything in and on the truck worked!! All except the radio. Well this just goes to prove how tough these trucks really are. And if you could just imanage how much sand and rock I removed from my blaz, I saved all that I could Six 5 gallon buckets, 1 33 gallon garbage can, and a large wheel barrow full of sand!! You really got to see my pics. If anyone has suggesstions on how to attach pictures please let me know, It would be worth lookin @. So far I have bought a starter, battery, fuel pump, and fluids and shes runnin great!! Oh yea, We ran the sand/dirt through my highbanker and pulled out about 2 grams of gold!! No bull s@it!

My name is Ron. I am "new" and "old". Looks like I joined in 2006, but only made one post since then. I thought I made more, but could be wrong , maybe the database reset or I'm getting old

Hello,
I figured it was about time to post on here.

Hello everyone, I've been visiting this site frequently lately so I figured I'd make it official and become a member.

My name is Eric. I live in the small hicktown of Morrison, WI (half hr drive south from Green Bay). I am currently 18yrs old. I love working on cars/trucks. Im restoring a '72 cutlass with my dad and I've already painted my own truck. About a year ago I purchased a '77 K5 blazer for $400. Its mechanically sound and has a good frame, but the body has seen better days :wink1:. Its just a mudtruck to reduce the abuse to my dd that I used to wheel. (Im only 18, can't aford lots of parts right now). I hope to eventually get a body thats in decent cond. and make a nice truck out of it.

I can see there are very many talented builders/fabricators on this site, and Im glad to become a part of it. Im looking forward to learning a lot!
