Introductions & Greetings

Hello my name is Sean. I am from NH and love to go wheeling and building new vehciles. I have had 2 Wranglers, 4 Cherokees and decided it was time to build something different. I just purchased a very rusty 89 K5 Blazer. I have already cut out the rear floor and started spot weld in new supports, new floor pans. My goal is to do a 6in lift, 36in TSLs, front and rear winches with custom bumpers. Leave the tbi 350 alone, I really want to swap out the 700r and 208 with a turbo 350 w/203-205 doubler, but that will probably have to wait till next year. Right now the truck has the 10 bolt front and rear, I planning on leaving those alone as well, unless anybody has some reason why I shouldn't. This full size stuff is new to me.

And I really hope to meet or wheel with some you guys this summer!!

Sean

Welcome Sean! :waytogo:

Good to see you here and to see another Granite-stater around this site.

Hello all, my name is Josh. I just bought a 1985 GMC Suburban 4x4 with a few mods already done. It's certainly got room to grow, as there are many things left unfinished, and my ultimate goal is to make a camping/expedition truck out of it. One of the Suburban's back doors is from a white truck, so I've lovingly named it "Mongrel." This will be the 15th vehicle I have owned in my 19 years of driving, and only the third truck (I've owned a Land Rover Disco II and Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T as well).

(Please excuse the crappy pics, they're from the PO's Cragslist ad.)

I found out about Colorado K5 from my boss, who is also a Chevy truck enthusiast. When I asked him who I should look up, he mentioned your group - though to my understanding he isn't a member here yet.

In other arenas, I am also a father of three and a former military man. In those 19 years of driving, I have driven on three continents (hopefully all 7 someday) in more than 10 countries. I've done everything from high-speed autobahn runs, to racing, and now I teach driver education too. Having this truck will be a new experience for me though, as I haven't really done any off-road modification to any of my cars yet.

As you can see, I have a hard time leaving things alone. I am sure the Mongrel will be no exception, though my priorities are less cosmetic this time. Ready to start learning...

Hello from Ontario, Canada

Hi, I'm resurecting a 79 C30 from my father-in-laws farmyard. The cab swap is in progress. The future plans are a cummins. I already have my next truck in my head. I want a crewcab on a 4x4 suburban frame with a cummins with a manual trans. Anyway, thanks for all the info on this site.

I'm Nate. Was building a K30 until I couldn't afford my tow rig anymore. Bought an 88 sub on 37s and stripped the K30. Running gear to go into the sub and build it for outdoors fun with the family. I've been lurking for awhile. A lot of good builds on here. Hopefully mine will hold its own among the best.
RC Crawling, Hunting and Fishing are my other hobbies.
My son is following in the modified foot steps with his collection of Power Wheels. Most all are modded.

Hello,

I'm Jeff from Lubbock TX. I drive a tame little 84 GMC K1500 SWB. It's about seven different shades of rattle can black and sits on 32"s with 2" lift blocks. I didn't do that but it handles surprisingly well so it's just fine with me. I use it occasionally to haul parts and take to various caliche pits to shoot. Also the bad weather ride. Only stock 10 bolts and I am still waiting on parts to finish a Vortec head TBI 350 build. I don't plan to work on mine much more than the engine and maybe lockers. My back's screwed up and parts get a little heavier every year.

Still have my first car, a 68 Olds 442. Slowly doing a frame off but it may never see the sun again at this rate. Daily driver is a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3. Trying to sell it since it's the fourth car and the only one losing value really. Had a 2006 DR650 but sold it since a dad with a short attention span had no business commuting on it. I'd rather hang out with the family most of the time anyway.

Would eventually like to find a clean rust free Blazer. Something about the same height as mine but lighter in color and with some beefy steel bumpers and axles and maybe even a spare tire and jerry can rack. Will be mostly browsing the ads for such an animal.

Jeff

My name is Toby. I've had a 68 burb for a while now. It sits in my driveway with big plans. I recently bought a 69 K5 that is pretty much stock. I'm turning it into my daily. It has plans too. I need to sell some other cars first before the work starts. That's really about it. I plan on getting plenty of help from everybody here with my questions. Thanks for having me.

Hi all, I believe a person learns two ways. One from your own mistakes and the mistakes of others. I've got a 78 K20 that will be project truck. The first project is to get it running again. I'm looking forward to all the picture and forums. Thanks for letter me a part of your group. Stan in Missouri
