Introductions & Greetings

Greetings!

Hello, My Name is Declan. I live in Traverse City, michigan and I recently purchased a 1986 Military K5 ( M1009) I am a member on the Steelsoldiers.com website, but I figured that I could get a lot of good ideas from here also! I have never been a part of any forum sites, so I'll try to stay out of the way until I learn my way around.

Hey guys, I freakin love this site. I have learned a lot of tips and tricks here. There are some Sweet rigs here! My name is Jeff Carpenter. I live in Bakersfield Ca. My suburban has been sittin for over ten years. Thats when I painted it. It has a 8" suspension 2" body. I swapped in a 14 bolt eleven years ago when I would snap the 12 bolt every weekend. I have a a lot of work to do. This site has inspired be get it back on the road again.

FNG From Tejas

Been a lurker for a while and found some good info here. I sold my 87 K5 and lost intrerest for a while until......that fateful day. I scored a 90 full size for the price of " just come pick it up" from a school buddy. A few hundred bucks later for a bonded title and here I am. The motor dropped a cylinder on the way home and I fogged every mosquito in the state on the way. I just completed the install of the ORD steering box brace and frame repair and I am getting ready to do the motor swap out of my 90 shortbed 2wd.
future plans include 4 or 6" lift, home built bumpers and rails and ?????

My name's Josh, I live in Cottage Grove, OR, and have been a fan of the 72 and older Chevys for a long time. I see there are quite a few other members (and even with 69-72s) in the PNW. After looking a while for a decent one for the right price, I just picked up a 72 K5 earlier this week. No engine, rusted out rockers, and plenty of other issues. It's going to be quite a project, but should be pretty sweet, and the only one around here when it's done. I also have a 55 stepside (big back glass, 2wd, will be my street ride) that I have had stashed, waiting for the appropriate funds to build it right, since I was 13 years old.

I also have a built oldsmobile 455 that will be going into the rig. It put's out 605 hp and 565 torque at 3500 rpm's. Just need to figure out what tranny to run. I plan on updating the interior to 2010 silverado balck leather seats with power and heat. This truck will be a daily driver. Thanks Dwight

Maybe I'm out of touch with my ghetto side, who makes 38's to fit 24's?
