Wish I could have found the site s few years ago most of your trucks look a lot better than mine ever did

I last had an 87, i found quite a few differences in that and the 86 I have for parts. nothing too serious. the waldoch seats where fun to try and modify though

Hey..

Yeah mines been a very difficult build at times, between the weather and work its been hard to find time. Apparently when my thread count gets to 15 I can post pics..mostlly interior now..nice to see someone from wis. on here..thanks for a reply..Later

hey guys im a noob

:laugh:sup guys im gabriel from mcallen texas i have a 1985 gmc full size jimmy. i first got it a couple years back then started looking for engine / tranny and transfer case and have had rear drive shaft custom made. and exhaust. this year will be the year she runs.. and runs.. but yeah im looking forward to learning how to weld have to cuz these floor panels are so rusted thru... haa haa..:wink1:

Welcome pretty new here myself, and I thought rust was confined to wisconsin ha. Good luck with the welding, at least it is a floor. I hear that body panels are a bit of an art.

Howdy! I'm Scott from Tracy, CA. Soon to be 52 and the stubborn owner of a '70 K5. I've owned it since 1981. Don't know much about automotive stuff except how to keep my damn yellow beast running. In the last two months I've replaced the carb and the manual steering gear. Today....the oil pressure was dropping to zero and then bouncing back up to about 20...only to fall again....but it sounded fine...and power felt normal. Found you guys two hours ago and now know the four things to check.....tomorrow! So thanks for the advice! (Everything on my K5 is pretty much stock and original.....)

Hi, Don here, didn't catch the whole conversation but I had the same problem with my 87 the oil pressure was null when I bought it. On mine the connector plug in the dash was dirty, I pulled the dash console out, removed the plug and used my dremel with a little wire brush wheel to clean the copper connections on the plug and the dash console too. Then spread the connectors a little to make better conection. Hope its helpful.

How ya all doin, i'm wayne 20, I got a 91 blazer, 6 inch spring 36' military oz tires. stock 350 with 140,000 700r4.... swapped out the stock 10 bolts for a dana 44 and a FORD (cheapest i could find) dana 60 FF...Shes a work in progress.. I'm trying to get the body done on it so i can get her up to Bloomsburg pa in july for the 4wheel jamboree.... I plan to drive her if she can handle the 3 hour ride from the pines in NJ. any body needs a set of stock ten bolts give me a call i got um waiting just need axle seals and brake calipers.

New to K5. Not new to wheeling.

John, Ontario, Canada. Been wheeling and upgrading my 87 Sub for years now. Truck is far from stock. A long list of mods has made this rig a blast to build and wheel. 6" lift, Dana 60 front with 35 spline outers, CTM's, 513 gears and ARB. Out back 513's with a detroit. Running 42" super swampers. High angle drive shafts connected to an ORD doubler, and 700 r4 with a full manual, reverse pattern valve body. Still using the stock 350( if it aint broke dont fix it ). Onboard air system with air jacks front and rear. Warn 12000 lb in the front.
The body was the biggest improvement for trail capabilities. Bobbed the rear 18", chopped the roof at the rear and installed an aluminum and lexan fastback, hatchback cover on gas struts. Kept the 1/2 barn doors.
Full cage and 4 Corbeau buckets. Original 40 gal. tank now sits on top of the frame directly over the rear axle, complete with a cover.
Been checking out member rigs for a long time now. Nice stuff!!

hey kyle i'm out in mesa, i go out to sycamore and butcher jones as much as possible for wheeling, camping, shooting, etc. always looking for others in the area to hang with

hello all, dave here. glad to find a site dedicated to k5's! i'm out in arizona and got my first blazer a few months back. after having the engine rebuilt, transfer case rebuilt, clutch and driveshafts replaced, steering box replaced and frame welded, and misc other repairs i'm ready to get out in the dirt and do some wheeling!!

Ok, i can't seem to post under tech, so i'll try here. At the moment, I have a 90 k5, 4 inch spring/block lift, 33's. Once the New england rain goes away this weekend, in goes the new. Skyjacker 8" Lift, redoing balljoints, tie rods ect with moog parts, and stickin some MT 39's under it. So, the 2 things i'm wondering, is does anybody have a trick on the steering arm? Other than the general bfh, heat and beat method. and 2, I'm looking at running dual skyjacker nitro's on each corner....and pro's and con's with that much shock?

Hi Jimmy
I tried the dual Nitro's in the front. Sheared off the bolts after a hard landing. Went to the plain old hydro's, no problems.
As far as the steering arm goes, what have you done to your steering. Are you still running the standard draglink, or crossover steering??
There are a number of options. With their own pros and cons. I will check back later this eve.

After looking at the lower mount, I'm def gonna break out the welder and stick some new plating to hold that 2nd shock....at the moment i'm still running stock steering, I'm holding off on the crossover until I get some 1tons. I picked up the skyjacker drag link to help out, but i have to do all my ball joints, so that steering arm has to come out
