new to ck5

just bought a 1981 k5 with a full roller 383,14 bolt rear locked, locked 44 which i did the 8 bolt swap today,4" lift on 35 12.5 15 remington mud brutes, full custom stereo, race buckets,a pile of billet aluminum interior stuff, rhinolined a set of 15x8 white spokes black today when i did the 6-8 lug swap on the 44 front, headers with full 2.5" and flowmaster 40 series mufflers, turbo 400 with shift kit, need a vacuum canister as the cam is a bit big(which would explain the 7800 rpm it turns)
i will be fixing the purple tint and the back window right away along with a few other issues that are already on the list. :woot:

I'm new to this board and have mostly hung out on Steel Soldier's to satisfy my M35A2 Deuce and a Half addiction. Now that I recently added a CUCV M1028 to the fleet, I've been informed that there is a wealth of knowledge to be had on this board. I'm mostly interested in lifting my truck, installing HMMWV wheels and tires and trying to keep it mostly "military" looking. I look forward to learning alot around here. I'll post pics of my truck soon, apparently they have to be uploaded to photobucket first rather than just uploading them to the site.

Hello!
I just acquired a 78 K5 Blazer as a swap for a sport bike I had.

The good:
Crate 350 and a factory 4 speed that runs great! 3/4 ton running gear, 35" tires with 4" lift. The floor has been completely replaced and rhino lined.

The bad:
Completely random steering, marginal brakes (it may be part of the steering problems, but hitting the brakes is a crap shoot on which way the thing pulls.) Throw out bearing sounds like it wants out.

The ugly:
Rust in the front fenders, doors and generally all over.

I have no idea what I am doing on this rig. My life has been spent tinkering with Motorcycles, choppers and old Cadillacs so questions will come fast and furious.

Hello from Arizona!

Hi! I'm a new CK5 member in Arizona, but not a complete stranger to CK trucks. I used to own a '77 Chevy K10. I recently picked up an '86 K5 Blazer from a friend. His uncle owned it previously. It originally had a 6.2L in it, but now has a 305ci. Not sure why they did the swap. It still has the hydroboost brake system. I'll try to keep up the info on the K5 updated as I discover things!

Hey guys! My name is Ryan, from South Dakota, and I am here with hopes that some of you TBI guru's will give me a hand diagnosing my Suburban!!

I have a 1989 GMC Suburban, TBI 350 4x4 "Grand Prix" package, towing package with 3.73 gears, 700R4 auto etc.... Love this beast! I have had a laundry list of chevy and GMC trucks in the past, but this is my first TBI. I also have an 85 K20 Silverado with a 350 and SM465 on 315 75 16 dunlop mud rovers.

Hope this is going to be a learning experience! Thanks guys!
Ryan

Hello, I'm Brandon and I own a 1977 chevy K10 Silverado ShortBed. I currently live in Mesa Arizona. I Just did an engine swap and changed out the rear end for a full Posi rear end. The motor is a bit of a mistery. I was told it has flap top pistons, RV Cam along with being bored out. Not sure what the guy bored them out too. The guy passed away and I bought the motor since my last one hydrolocked from a blown head gasket. The guy was a machinist so it could have just about anything in it. For $250 i could'nt pass it up.

Welcome Newbs....a Special hello to the MI, and ME guys. I was up to presque isle this summer on my m/c. Good riding there!
this is a great site, if you look in the garage....a bunch of info going on all the time. The driveway is a great forum to follow builds, and the lounge is a BS party. Some areas require the $25 yearly dues, but its well worth it.
