Introductions & Greetings

Hello All, I recently picked up a 72 Sierra. I've owned a couple of these trucks (a 68 and a 70) but never owned a 4wd version, so considering making this truck a 4x. I've picked up a couple chassis's so far and still have yet to find a nice one. One is rusty and the other is bent. Soo still lookin. Hopefully my luck will get a little better. Learned alot about 4x's so far but needing to learn more. Which is why I'm here :D

hello all
my name is tug, i live in memphis tennessee
back in march i bought my 1st 4x4 and it just had to be a K blazer or jimmy

i found a steal of a deal i couldnt pass up on an 85 sierra classic jimmy
its black exterior and top
tan interior and someone was even nice enough to recover the seats in matching tan leather
it had already been converted to the 700r4
stock ride height sitting on 31 10.50 's and came with a aftermarket set of wheels with brand new 33's mud tires
it runs well, no leaks, burns a bit of oil at startup but im already in the process of replacing the motor with one i had already.
had a cd player and 2 10s already in it to.

pretty good find around here for 2000 considering the extra rims and tires would run 1/2 that and trucks alone in this condition go for 2500 - 3500 easy and are getting hard to find.

Hello

Hi, I'm Valerie from South Texas. I have a 1989 Suburban 4x4 with a 4inch lift, Its my daily driver I have a new vette and a chevelle in the garage. Got the suburban from a good friend and I love it. It runs like a top. A/C blows cold and I feels so safe in it. Thanks for having me. Val:D

Hi, I'm Jack from Huntsville, AL. I owned an 83 K5 in college (back in 93), but sold it shortly after graduating. Looking for another K5 as a daily driver and occasional offroad. Quick question, I'm looking at 88-91's and can't seem to find a manual tranny. Are they that hard to find?

Hey guys, I'm Steve, from Simi Valley, CA. I have owned 4 Square body Suburbans in my day (an 85, an 87, and two 88's) all of them have been sold off to pay debts and court fee's, etc etc, but recently I have decided to pursue purchasing another one 87-91, with the hopes of doing a 12 valve/NV4500/NP205 swap in the not-so-far off future. I had been in a search for a Suburban with an SM465, I had come across one here in my town (an 88 GMC 454/SM465/NP205) with bad synchro's in 3rd gear, but the woman refused to smog it, and wanted 2500, for a bare bones (no power anything, tilt wheel, or a/c) truck, not my style. My search continues, but I decided to come on here and start asking about swapping an SM465/NV3500/NV4500 in an automatic Suburban, but I had been told that the Trans tunnels were different, but now I'm being told that the automatic trucks trans tunnels have punch holes to show you where to cut for a Manual swap, So I'm here to clearify that, as well as other information about Chevy :D good to meet you all, Ill pay my dues later on down the road (Kiiiiind of in the middle of a DUI case, which is partially why I'm looking for my new project, so my friends have a reason to come to my house to drink since I aint doin much driving these days).

Glad to have found the site haven't been on line before much so here i go. Need help on 1986 radiator fittings j-code diesel 27,000m good shape anybody can guess what it is! Denikin

Hello, my name is Dennis. I live in Vail Colorado. A year ago bought 1990 K5 blazer from my friend. Did some cosmetic staff on it but looks like I need much more stuff to put under it. I'm gonna keep it as a toy but wanna get it Moab ready!!! Everything stock on it exept I got 6 inch lift and 35 tires, also got tube bumpers, rock sliders and winch. So trying to put 40 inch tires. Hope you guys can help with advise!!! Thanks

Greetings from St. Louis. I've been lurking for about 6 months but only got my K5 about two months ago. It's a 1986 M1009 CUCV with 62K on it. The only mod I've done is switching it to manual glow plug control with a push button on the dash using a Ford relay. Currently I'm trying to decide what to do about my tires. They are crap and I can either spend $1100 dollars on new 31.8" Cooper ST/Maxx's or trim the fenders and put that money into spindle upgrades, lift kit and by 90% HMMWV 37" takeoffs or perhaps an axle upgrade with the lift and 37" tires. But I may also be biting off more than I can chew. Like I said, I'd like input. Glad to be around and really looking forward to learning from the vets.

88 diesel disaster

i got an 88 diesel jimmy as part of a trade its a 6.2 auto it has 3 egr solenoids well the original owner fried the glow plug solenoid in 2001 and parked the truck in the ten years it sat several parts got removed to fix other trucks he had and my sisters husband bought the jimmy in may cuz he the motor he "worked" on it for a couple months then gave it to me in the trade well he hacked the entire wiring harness up when i removed what was left of it there was literally only 4 wires left in one pieces. well i plan to restore this truck my father in law had an 85 like it and i loved that truck well i am posting cuz i need help! first off does anyone have a wiring diagram so i can rewire it or a harness i can buy? i plan to eliminate the 3 egr solenoids how will that effect how i rewire it? and when jim was "working" on it he removed the throttle position sensor how do i reset it? and last question the stock intake manifold has a crack from jim and his hammer so i am gonna have to replace it. and i am eliminating egr so i need a j code intake manifold i was wondering if the intake manifold off my father in laws old 93 6.5 turbo diesel truck would work its sitting in the basement so its free. also the factory gauge cluster was removed in the years the truck sat so i was wondering if anyone can tell me where i can get one or can i use a gas motor gauge cluster? and one more question the front end is rusted and missing grill and other pieces well i have a mint front clip off the 78 suburban monster truck i got in the trade and my jimmy is factory ac delete and is missing the oil cooler i was wondering if i when i put the suburban front on would the suburbans ac cooler work as an oil cooler? i have a very tight budget for this truck so i wanna try and make this thing work with parts i have laying around if possible. any help is greatly appreciated thank u.

New member, here. I have an '88 K5. I recently had the engine, transmission and differential rebuilt. It has a 4" lift with 18" XD Diesel wheels and 33" tires. Hope to gain more knowledge about these trucks.

Just bought my first "K5" a 78' Jimmy. Wanted to say hello, meet some people on the "West Side" of Phoenix... From my interaction with the other forums, I know that's y'all are good people.

Hey everyone! what a wealth of knowledge there is on this site!!!!!! i just recently bought a 88 GMC Jimmy, a few things i need to do to just to get it to pass emissions and get plates but thats my goal is gt plates, run a few smaller simpler trails to get use to the truck itself and decide what it needs. currently it has a 4" lift and 31's when the tires are shot i might step up to 35's or 37's.

Hey guys. New to the site, obviously. So as of right now I do not own a GM but I will be heading out this afternoon to pick up a 90 Suburban 1500 4x4. It needs a little work but she runs strong and is in pretty good shape.
