Introductions & Greetings

too many projects to finish

Just joined but have been lurking around off and on for awhile. Great site for info and motivation! I have a cj7 still on jack stands in the garage, an 80 shortbox in pieces in the driveway, and an 84 crew cab sitting out back. I think i need to prioritize, at least thats what my wife keeps telling me. Maybe you guys can help me decide which one to finish first. I live in central washington.

Hello. My name is Derrick and I am from Philadelphia. I have a 1980 K5 Blazer with a modified 350ci engine, factory axles, np465 tranny, and factory transfer case. I am trying to get the truck back on the road and need some rocker panel and floor work done. I want to do the work myself, but lack the tools and know-how. Are there any members in the Philly area that want to stop by for some beer and bbq? My neighbor has a Grand Wagoneer and an Early Bronco and we bbq almost every weekend, rain or shine. Get with me if you are in the area of 5th and Cheltenham.
Thanks...

I am still trying to find pics of your truck to post here. Oh yeah, this is Ben...

Hi

Hi the name is Brad. I am from Washington State. I am currently in Ft.Hood Texas. I have loved Chevy's for a long time now. My grand father and my father have had Chevy's. So I will keep up the tradition. I currently have a 95 1500 4x4 Z71 I just bought. I am in the process of laying out the plans for it. But I have gotten a brush guard, nerf bars and some other armor type stuff. I have loved this forum so far and plan to stay with it for a long time. Well catch yall later.

umm chevy site.. hmm wonder what we would knock off that list first... hmmm

i know we can say what should be done first.. cant place my finger on it though.. :pimp:
Yeh yeh, I know, but the jeep is almost done and is more chevy than jeep at this point. The crewcab is minus motor, but with a th350/203 combo still hung underneath. Not an ideal combo. The shortbox has a 6in lift, 3/4 ton running gear, and a rebuilt motor that runs good. Just need to finnish the cab swap that I started months ago. Thought about taking the rebuilt 350, 465/205 combo and stuffing into the crewcab, then shortning the frame, but that would be alot of work. I have another complete 350, but no idea how well it runs, that I could put in the crewcab. Then I would have two trucks instead of one. What do you think?:dunno:

I am not sure if I ever introduced myself on here or not. I registered back when I bought the 77 chevy k20 I just sold, but honestly may have never posted. I just sold the 77 and bought a 73 blazer. It has a 454 and 6" lift. I am still working out a few bugs on the truck, but it seems pretty solid so far. Anyways, just stopping by to say hello to everyone. I look forward to learning more and posting as I go

Nobody claims to have a 1973 without posting pictures as proof....:D

Mmmmmm......solid white with power mirrors. That is what I wished mine was except with the gray interior.

Whats up, i was tired of getting flamed at pirate so i though ck5 might be better

I've been to all of them, but I live at this forum...nothing even comes close to benefits of membership here...the only reason I ever even look at other sites is for parts for sale.
If you are serious about your rig then you will gladly pay the membership dues and you won't be disappointed.
There are great moderators here who won't tolerate flaming and you won't find people that know more about K5's anywhere. In fact, there are very multi-talented folks who are contributing members here that can do it all from wrenching to body work and insane fab work and paint and finishing....if you love your K5, this is Home. :waytogo:

Introduction from Connor

I just purchased an 85 K5 4x4, Arizona truck originally, funky 2-tone cream/yellow and white (good desert colors) with only a bit of surface rust. Stock 305 has been upgraded to a 350/4 speed auto trans. Has removable top with the Cali-style surf-board rack on the top and chrome spoiler-wing. My plans are to outfit it with key parts and accessories for life up in the northwoods; brushguard and lights, jerry can rack, winch and other mods. First step I have to take is to square away the front end - suspension and steering - as it is pretty loose (maybe tie rod ends and ball joints). Anybody with any comments or experience on 85's or these issues?

Thanks, Connor.

Hello All,

My name is Charles and i live in Citrus Heights, California. I'm 21yrs young and a proud owner of a 1989 Chevy K5 Blazer. I purchased it in May this year for $4,000 and immediately spent another $4,000+ in repairs :(...definitely my worst investment but my happiest decision. The day after i bought it i had some work done to the steering column ($200). 2 days after that i was driving to work and cracked both heads beyond repair and blew the head gasket :( so i took it to a shop and $3,300 later i got new rebuilt heads, new radiator, new auto fan clutch, new thermostat, new driver pulley, new serpentine built and few other things. So after that i found that the guy before me changed the cat and decided to have the wrong one installed. He had downsized to a 2.5in cat and had some holes plugged in it and it was a mess. $250 after that i had a new 3in magnaflow cat installed so i could pass smog in CA and then my muffler was bad so i changed that $175 for a single chamber flowmaster. It came with a 2in lift on it and an extra 4in lift that came with it. So over the weekend i installed the 4in lift to help keep the 33s from rubbing. Before the lift was installed i was driving and snapped a ujoint which we all know doesnt cost too much but if you dont have the right tools then you need to get them so it cost me a pretty penny. Now shes acting up again (i think its a fuel line problem) and she is starting to overheat when i first start it up. Changed the thermostat again to make sure it wasnt bad but no luck with the problem. She runs hot (230degrees) and i have a 195degree thermostat in it...other than that shes my black widow! Kills the man everytime :) she has a pretty fresh black paint outside and all the original chrome moldings are in place and intact and doesnt look bad at all. I blacked out all the chevy emblems and the side mirrors. Trying to figure out how to upload photos for everyone to see (if im eligible that is). Glad to find a dedicated forumn for my type of vehicle :)
