Introductions & Greetings

Just another new guy.

How's it going fellas. My name is Ian, I live in Newark "east bay" California and I drive a 1975 Chevy Blazer. I love my truck. I love the hobby. I love designing and fabricating parts. Hope to see some of you guys around.

My name is Nic, I'm from Sarasota FL, I drive a 1984 k-5 Blazer with 5 inches of lift sitting on new 33" mud rovers, 4 Barrel 350, 3 speed auto, headers, dual flowmasters. Bought the truck stock 5 months ago and have enjoyed doing all the work to it myself. Love the truck, use it as a daily driver.
Look forward to seeing other K5s on this site.

New to CK5

I send greetings from Fredericksburg, Va. area (not my choice, the military). I am a EOD Soldier and working out here for another year or so. Well thats enough about me, let get to the cool stuff.
I have recently become the owner of a 91' GMC k2500, one could say awesome. Driving home from my new purchase, my new truck became my new project. The truck overheated and the first thing that broke was the gauge so the next was spinning a bearing. I've spent the past week replacing head gasket and doing a valve adjustment and inspecting the top end. I still have the knocking though acceleration.
I have a 6.5N.A. w/ 4L80e to put in place of the 350 /4L80e, hence my new project. The guys at the truck stop have been a ton of help. If anyone has a detailed post of the swap that would be a great help. One of things the guys that are going to help me say, "how the hell are we gonna get in there?". I have the intention on pulling the front of the clip. I wasn't trying to pull the whole front clip.
The truck has 9" of suspension, 3" of body, 4:10's, and 38"s on 20" wheels. I also have a set of steel wheels w/ 37's on 16.5's for the winter. Thanks for any help or advice I can get and I will definitely keep a detailed photo log of the swap.

Welcome to the forum Rob.
You are in Ontario CANADA, so you should have no problem finding some like minded guys that are into Diesel conversions and some that know some good stuff about diesel engines.
Haven't seen many that know about Perkins per se, but knowledgeable people nonetheless.
I will send you a PM about the info you asked about.

86 carb swap top 350 tbi

Hey,
just registered, recently purchased a 86 K5 lifted, but otherwise stoock with 10 bolts and 4spd manual, 305ci. Has a cracked head so I'm dropping an 88 one ton chevy 350 in it with computer, etc. Any suggestions on what I'll need to make the change?
Also thinking about swapping over the one ton rear axle(it's 2wd). Any idea on what stock axle ratio the 305s had?
Thx
DJ

Hi all, Adam here from California. I have an 80's Diesel K5 I call the beast. Most of it is stock, a few parts are flat black and some shiny factory black shows through here and there. It still has a non turbo 6.2 backed by a TH400 and a 205. ORD shackle flip in the rear, Military 37"s on steel wheels and a custom aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. I have been reading info from this site on and off for years, it's a great resource. Thanks all for the good info from the past, present and future. =)

Hey guys....my name is Tom, just recently moved to SLC, Utah from Chicago.....hold the laughs, did it for the powder sooooo close to my house and because wifey is going to college here.....:waytogo:

Finally have the space to get a full size truck again. It would just not happened in Chi-town. PITA to drive it around, park it on the street and would not fit in our condo building garage. Heck, had to take of the roof rack crossbars from my mildly lifted 97 Explorer on 33's to fit it in......

1990 V1500 Suburban, still pretty much stock, beside 4" lift and 33" BFG TKO's (the one I had on my Exploder) in need of replacing, 15x10 alu wheels and black bedliner paint job

Hi Tom, welcome to SLC! I'm in Draper. I've been registered on the site for a while, great place for Chevy info...I have a 1-ton scrambler that thinks it's a blazer (has some of the parts from my '74). I've had a '75 and a '74 and just bought a '90 that I'm building to run a snowblower. Someday I'll build a '72, my favorite year.

New to site/new to K5

Hi all. I'm a long-time four wheeler (1982 Jeep CJ5) who just inherited (unfortunately) a 1979 K5 from my father-in-law. It is stock - for the most part. It does have a Lock-Rite locker in the rear, some form of conversion kit for the transfer case (the transfer case is an NP203, but it has Warn hubs), and 31x10.50R15 BFG All Terrain TA's. I'm in the process of getting the "little" problems  (quite a bit of steering play, transmission doesn't shift quite right, no emergency brake, etc.) taken care of and a few future tweaks (lift, tires - I just put in a new stereo and speakers). I plan to read the forum and pick your brains. Happy four-wheeling!
