New guy to CK5

My name is Jay Seely and I' ve been messing around with GM trucks since I was a kid. I'm out of Alberta Canada. As luck would have it I found the Jimmy I always wanted when I was in High School. Its 21 years later but time has been good to my 1991 GMC Jimmy SLE K5. Looking forward to chatting with you guys and sharing tips and best practices.

Might As Well Make An Intro...

Hey guys, my name is Josh, I'm 23, currently enrolled in school pursuing a degree in either network engineering or engineering design. Haven't really decided yet, but I bought my first K5 more than a year ago and promptly named her Sheila after a tank in one of my favorite web shows, Red Vs. Blue. Over this past year I haven't done too much with the K5 other than break it a few times. It likes to eat my money, but I encourage it because I keep on trading for parts, or getting new things to bolt into it. It's really just a matter of time before I make a thread in the 73-91 K5 forums about my adventure with this beast since I've owned her. But lets start with the basics, this is her when I bought her...

I will give details of everything she had or didn't have at the time of purchase. And this is how she sits now...

Hi again from Macon, Georgia

88

Hey,

I just got an 88 Suburban. Already went through some transmission issues. Seems the governor had a gear strip out on it so it never shifted out of the lowest gear. Had to send it to the master techs to figure that one out.

It runs good again but now I will have to battle the code 44 issue, Oxygen Sensor Circuit. I have been told this is causing about 20% more fuel to be used than necessary during idle.

So hopefully I can get a decent troubleshooting flowchart for this. Sounds there are a number of inputs that can ping this one.

Nice to be here...

So I guess this and the build forum are the only places we are allowed to post until we meet some criteria to become an all access member?

You can post in the "garage". Not the build thread section but the garage itself.

Ken from Grass Valley CA

New here but I have owned my 71 K5 for about 15 years. Recently became unemployed so I have plenty of time to start fixing all the issues I have been ignoring since I got my K5. If I can figure out how to post pictures I am going to start a thread on what I am going to do, can never have too many of those.

Welcome to CK5!

Non paying members need to have 5 posts before posting pics.

And being a paid member will give you access to the first gen specific section.

But, being unemployed may deem $25 an unnecessary expense. You still have access to the garage and driveway build threads.

hey guys

Well first off new not only to this site but to the blazer/jimmy community,
i just bought a 1979 Gmc Jimmy high sierra with the 6.6L 400, i have always liked the trucks and my co worker was selling it, it is a piece of work its been bounced off rocks n trees so lmctruck is going to be my best/worst friend for a while buying new panels and interior work as well.
i plan on getting the truck to a nice solid body and color also get it ready for some offroad. well now a bit about myself, i am stationed in Yuma Az, originally from Sacramento Ca and i also work at the auto hobby shop on base for a bit extra cash for my rebuild. i am 20 yrs old well i guess if i have any questions ill be asking you guys thank you!!

Hello all, new to forum but not to k5's had an 86 jimmy with a good ole 6.2 in high school with 225,000 on the odo until i killed the trans. Recently aquired a 90 blazer with a 6 inch tough country lift, had a 8 lug 10 in the front but a blown up 60 in the rear (i didn't ask questions) that i already swapped out for a 14 bolt, it has a few more issues (but can't complain since I traded a nearly stock 94 s-10 blazer for it, straight across :woot:) so I'm sure I'll be picking at some brains here and there.

Hello, my name is Dan, and I am in South Florida.
I own an 87 k5 3 speed on the floor.
I have a small lift, but want to go higher.
350
I found CK5 when I was looking for a snorkel kit for my truck.

Hi, I'm Alex and I have a 1990 5.7L 4x4 chevy k5 blazer. It has a custom bumper with an 8000 lb warn winch and blazer baja offroad lights on it. The first two questions I have are: 1) is it a good idea to replace the carpet with bedliner and how much will it cost to do myself. 2) how hard is it to remove the silver plate on the tailgate and is there any extra maitenence involved once you remove it. Thank you!
