New guy signing in!

Hey there

Names Rob. Right now we are actually in the process of finding a 89-91 Suburban. My wife and I have been in Jeeps for well over a decade and with us getting into more expedition style off roading we decided to see about moving into a larger vehicle and one I am already familiar with. I grew up with old chevy.

Dont get us wrong we love our jeeps and we still have two of them but we just wanted more room and that's needed especially with two full size dogs as well.

While researching a lot of the burban info I kept ending up at CK5 so I thought mind as well join up. IF we find a burban I will defenitly become a full member!

Our ideal Chevy would be a 89-91 2500 with the SBC a TH400 maybe a built 700r4, 4" lift with 33's maybe 35"s regeared with some ARB lockers.

Our long term plan is to travel the outer edges of North America from Arizona to Flordia Keys to New Foundland to Prudoe Bay Alaska and back to AZ for a few months. Hopefully in a few years and hopefully in the Suburban.

Lots of good Burb builds in here also. You might consider a diesel for all that traveling?

Thanks 496. We actually have settled on one just about 2 hours ago 91 1500 with the SBC and 700r4. Found out it has 3.42 gears but all original paperwork and receipts from GM on a new motor 45k ago! We hope to be the new owners of it by Friday and then it goes right over to Sierra Expeditions for lockers and gears.

My name is Marc, I am seventeen, my dad just bought me a 1986 gmc jimmy sierra classic, I am very new to the 4x4 world. I love classic cars for sure. My Jimmy is a beautiful truck, it has a 305 in it for now, i was curious if i could get some help on cheap performance mods w/o dumping a 350 in it, thats gonna be later on down the road... along with frame off restoration. I would very much appreciate some advice.

Exhaust first and foremost. Doesn't even need to be a dual set up. Stock manifolds and y-pipe to a better aftermarket cat and single 3" system will flow PLENTY and sound great on the 305. After that, a good intake, carb (maybe just a rebuild) and mild cam will really wake it up.

Welcome to CK5!

wheeler from sc

Hey my name is Andrew and I am somewhat new to wheeling since i do not own a 4x4 but I like to drive trucks and have gone rockcrawling and mudding with friends. I currently do not own a k5 but I plan on getting one and saw this site as a good way to learn what I need in order to get started.
