Introductions & Greetings

Hello all, I'm Jeremy, I live in Southern IL. I have an 89 K5, have had a 70 and an 83 in the past. The 89 has a 6" trailmaster lift and 35 Mastercraft Courser M/Ts. It's strictly a mud toy, I'll be upgrading as my budget allows. I have other toys as well, so it won't be a quick process...
Look forward to learning from y'all.

Where ya live at in Hellinois? And budget :haha:, I try to stick to that plan as well yet I spend all my cash on this money pit mud truck, and lose more ladies over it than I can count.

Harrisburg....
I see you are in the same area, where are ya?
And ya, I spend way too much money on toys, but right the now the Blazer is 2nd on the list behind my dually.

Hello Im Harmon Im a welder by trade and live near Pittsburgh Pa.. I currently own a 1/2 ton 87 Suburban thats my daily driver its lifted with a warmed up 350. Im in the process right now of swapping the axles for a 14 bolt and a dana 44. Ive owned two K5s years ago and would like to get my hands on another to build for fun or a nice driver depends on what a can find. I would love to get a late 60s or a 73/74. Thanks

As a long time lurker, I figured it was finally time. After all, I've owned a CUCV off and on for 5 years now... time to start supporting the site.

Names Steve, from Kansas.
I tend to collect military vehicles, but the allure of A/C is starting to get to me. So I might have to join the 90s and buy a "new" truck.
In the mean time, I'm working on getting my blazer up to speed.
Wiring is 25 years old, and over worked.
Plastic is rotted
Truck is rust free, except for a spot just above the driver's door. Weirdest spot.
Needs paint something fierce.

Hello all, my names Chris from CT i have a rusted out 86 k5 blazer and a recently purchased 84 k5 blazer in decent shape(compared to the first one). i tend to work on anything with a motor or that uses gunpowder but this is my first go around with a 4x4 so i'll probably be making a pain of myself here :D

Welcome!

I'm sure you will find tons of good info here. There are plenty of helpful and experienced people here too. If you run into a bind, just ask.

Hello All, I'm Eric and I live in NC. My first car in high school was an 87 K5. It was stolen when I went to college and now 15 years later I've finally bought another one. Proud owner of an 88 K5. I don't plan to do any major modifications but who knows.

Hello everyone, name's Dan I'm from Arlington, Washington... U.S.M.C. Vet, so while serving I had acquired a '79 K5 and dropped some money into and just loved the damn thing. Unfortunately could not drag it home as I already had to many vehicles and was forced to sell... Picked up an '82 K5 a couple years ago to play with but it's just been sitting... Started cleaning it out to sell and well wouldn't you know that spark I saw was back. Dash is all tore apart for re-wire and I guess I'll go from there.

Hello everyone. My name is chris and I am from NC. I have had an 85 K5 for about 2 years now. I have always wanted an offroad vehicle and I have gotten busy with building the one I now own. I am a novice but I learn fast. I appreciate any advice those of you with the experience would like to share. I have just completed the rebuild on the 350 motor. I also rebuilt the 208 transfercase when I did the motor. A local tranny shop rebuilt my 700r4 while I replaced my u-joints in the driveshafts. My next thing is swapping out my edelbrock 1406 with a holley. I have learned a lot from you guys already. I am looking forward to learning more. Thanks everyone!

Hey everybody my name's Brett from Northern California. I'd been obsessing about picking up a blazer to make my daily driver for years & finally found an 83 GMC Jimmy w/ a 6.2 diesel in my neighborhood. Like others, I'm not the sharpest mechanic but learning very quickly. I already blew the current diesel & scored a newer 6.2 but w/ an ATS turbo setup all dialed in so it'll be installed soon. The rest is pretty stock minus the 6pt roll bar & 33's I found on Craigslist. Future mod wants: full custom family roll cage, full convert top conversation, and a few other things. Fortunately I don't have to smog this one so I have plenty of options in the long run. Good stuff!:waytogo:

Hey everyone. New to the site. Live in Chicagoland area. Got my first new to me 89 K5 Jimmy. Have big plans for this thing and will start a build thread as soon as I can upload pics. Bought it right before Xmas and have been going full force on this thing since. I've always wanted one of these rigs. My plans include:
Get rid of all the rust
Completely box the frame and fill all holes
Paint exterior
Replace all interior
Replace the axles with Dana 60/ 14bolt ff
Replace engine 4L80E trans NP205 t-case with twin stick
All new gauges
Just make this thing road and trail worthy.

I spent about a year in Chicagoland, specifically Glendale Heights and Lombard back in 95-96.

Welcome to CK5!

Hello from LV

Hello :) My name is Austin, I am originally from Northern Utah but moved to Las Vegas about 2 years ago in March. My uncle found me a K5 that was in his impound lot for about $350. Its got a a body lift and suspension lift (dont know exact specs on that) 3/4 ton axles, a custom back seat, and a custom roll bar. Really excited to have this as my first vehicle. I plan on doing so much with this vehicle and I am glad I can be here to document it all. See ya around :)
