Introductions & Greetings

New guy in town here, hanging out in SoCal. I've been reading the forum for a bit and decided to join.

I've got an '04 Chebby 1500 extended cab stepside. 6" superlift, 3" body lift, 37" IROC's, factory 4:11 Posi front and rear. Custom one off Candy Magenta paint with a air brushed "Tinkerbell" on the tailgate, shaved everything. It's basically a street driven show queen for the Boss, I mean wife. But she drives it every day, better than most guys do. ;)

I also have recently picked up a '87 K5 blazer. Pretty much stock sitting on worn out 35's. I'm fixing it up for my daughter when she gets her lisence. Until then it's my toy. :)

I'll be around looking for info on both trucks as I've got some work to do on them in the suspension side.

Hey guys my name is Derrick and I live in the North Denver Metro Area. I have a 1973 K5 that I purchased earlier this summer and I absolutely LOVE the darn thing! I know very little about repairing/fixing/restoring vehicles. That is kind of why I joined up here, you can always learn some tricks of the trade on quality sites such as this. It would also be cool to meet up with some other fellow K5 owners in the Colorado area!

i'm new here at CK5 and i'm happy to find this page, really good stuff here...so i own a 79 K20 Suburban, 350, SM465,NP205 with 6" Lift, 3" Bodylift and 37 XTC's...so now over winter i began to rebuild the burb a last time cause i'm going to be a daddy in Spring :-) So planned for this winter: Crossover Steering, Disc Brake Conversion, Vortec Engine Swap and rebuild the cab...it's hard to get the parts here to Austria, wish i would live in the states :bow::bow::bow:

new member here from north GA i got a 87 suburban with a 4" lift on 35s right now with a 400smb but really considering puting a 2001 up ls gen 3 in it so im doing some serious searching info

Hi, my name is Fred, I never introduced myself before, in 2000 at that time CK5 was just small time, now look what has happen in 13 years, wow!! never thought it got this big, so I got lost trying to find out what has transpired within the years, Admin, you've done well and its great to see other legendary members and newcomers join in with CK5:bow:
I live in Honolulu Hawaii, small pebble of rock in the middle of nowhere, I'm 45 years old and been working on K/5s since 1997
Well here's my stats on what blazers I'm working on....and still working on:pimp:
1978 Chevrolet K/5 blazer non A/C MT 4x4, picked this truck up for $1000.00 in fair shape, It had an aftermarket A/C which was kinda stupid cause it blocked the glove box from opening, had it removed and disposed of.
The manual trans was in poor shape, had it redone by my late uncle Martin, he did a bad ass job on it and it works really good, 350 engine was also redone replacing the carb with a holley avenger with elderbrock aluminum manifold, all vacuum hoses replaced.
In process is the gas tank, fuel lines and fuel pump, ran into rust in the fuel filter so everything had to be replaced.
All bottom exterior cleaned and painted with POR-15 chassis black paint excluding engine and trans componets.
Right now the 78 sits on 35" tires Mickey Thompsons and BFGoodwich fronts, no this truck is not lifted yet.
Front and Rearend will be replaced with 1975 K5 axles.
This blazer used to be red, now its Harbor Blue, Full on removal of interior including dash componets and dash, replaced with blue interior (Still in the works)

1983 Chevrolet K/5 Silverado trim Blazer, bought this blazer from a girl name Christine for $4200.00 in decent shape.
The blazer had a problem, some idiot cut the soft hose from the gas inlet to the gas tank, word has it that he wanted to drive her to work (Dumbass)
That is why the blazer was sold.
Pretty much this truck is stock, so nothing was done to it...and everybody loves this beast.

Myrtle Beach noobie

Hey all- Just joined up over here in Myrtle Beach. Ive have several S-10 Blazers over the years (84, 87 and 93) but always wanted a K5. Last week my father-in law asked me if I wanted to have his 88 K5 as its been sitting for a few years and knows he's not going to get it back road worthy anytime soon. So he would rather give it to me over letting it sit. Heck Yea I want it! So my current delema is some how getting it transported form a ranch south of Pueblo, CO to Myrtle Beach :dunno: So waiting on the paperwork to arrive in the mail box so I can start the process of getting it moved. It definatly needs a bath inside/outside, heater core, fuel pump (or related issue) and some paint work. Very straight/soild truck form dry Nevada and already has a 4-6" lift installed w/ 33" ATs! I'll get some pics posted up soon. Excellent site!!
 
Hi everyone, My name is Frankie. I recently bought a 1973 K5 and thought I could learn allot from you guys. I haven't had much experience with the older Chevys in offroading only the newer trucks. Either way I am a Chevy guy and glad to be apart of this group.

Hey I am Matt, i live in Salt Lake City and am building a cross between a 1960 international B120 and a 1976 K20 Suburban. i wanted the chevy drivetrian but the body of the IH is just cool looking. so i decided to incorporate the two into one monster truck. I have started a build thread and will post pics and more info on the build as i get further along.

Hey folks ... I'm Corey, live in western PA most of the time. Self employed, travel a lot for work. In the planning stages of a project (outlined in my sig) right now, starting to gather parts quickly. Mostly an all-around rig... hunting, fishing, camping, exploring vehicle that will be kept pretty nice, but already has dings and scratches. :) Looking forward to "meeting" you all, exchanging ideas, and learning much.

I registered here a while back but never have got around to posting anything. There is so much useful information here that I've just been reading and trying to soak it all up.
Anyway my name is Adam, and I'm from middle Georgia. I bought a 79 k10 a little over a year ago and have a ton of fun playing with it and working on it. I built a new .060 over 350 for it last year after 2 rod decided to exit on the interstate. It sm465 with a 205, got a 10 bolt front and 12 bolt rear. Still rocking the 3.42 gears with 35s, picked up some 4" springs + zero rate for the front and just 2" blocks in the rear for now.
 
Hey guys. My name is Jayson and I have been looking around here for a long time now I decided to sign up. I have a 87 that I have have built and wheeled. This winter I am pulling it apart and putting a S10 cab on with with either a LM7 or LQ4.

Hey all, I'm Chris, I'm from Chicago and I have a 1982 K5 Blazer. I just got it, its ugly, its rusty and it gets terrible gas mileage, but I'm in love. I can't tell if I have the 305 or the 350, I think I have the 305. I have major wiring issues, major rust issues, a couple sounds I'm not sure about and both an oil leak and a trans leak, so expect to see me in here a lot asking questions!

I am on the lookout for another K5 in better shape but still on the cheap, so if you see anything in the midwest that I should take a look at, let me know!

Big Question - What are the most common reasons for really bad gas mileage on these things and how can I fix them?

hi chris, main causes are auto parts store fuel pumps pushing out 9 psi when any carbed SBC only needs 2.5 to run right-put a regulator on it and pinch it off, also the quadra-phuck is probably now leaking internally--so you need to take it a part and seal the little 4 lead looking plugs on the underside of the main body--in the center with some gas proof epoxy--or else buy a new one.
