Introductions & Greetings

Howdy,

Signgonzo here from the Okanogan highlands in Washington. Just purchased my third Suburban. It's a 1977 3/4 ton and will be my most ambitious build ever. Plan to take it all the way down to the chassis and building it with a 12 valve Cummins, NV4500, and a NP 205. Haven't decided on axles yet. I am 62 and a retired truck driver. This will be the truck I always dreamed of and never had the time/money to build. Looking forward to sharing ideas and info with you guys.
Thanks for the forum.

Hey my names Ashley from Phila PA. I signed up to market my '79 Blazer for sale. This gem is a survivor and a true beauty. What better place and group of people to expose it to than here.

Hello fellow K5 fans!

Hello everyone!
My name is Joe, I am a huge K5 fan. I have had old chevy trucks and blazers since i was 14 years old and didnt have a licence yet. I currently have a 1978 GMC Jimmy. I found this Jimmy in Phoenix AZ back in 2004 and it has been an ongoing project ever since. here is a short list of the mods on my current K5:
1. 6" Tuff country EZ-Ride springs all around with a 2" leveler in the rear.
2. dana 60 front axle and a corp 14 bolt rear with a locker
3. a fresh 454 swap with the works like intake and a dual 3" exhaust
4. a built 700r4 that despite what people tell me has held up just fine behind my 454
5. complete restoration (body, paint, interior and so on..)
I'm sure there are tons of mods i havent mentioned.

I really enjoy wheeling in moab Utah. so far my favorite trail has been flat iron mesa, it really is a fun trail.

I will be posting pics as soon as i figure out how :D I look forward to bouncing ideas off you guys!

good place to join! I am new also and looking to get tips from people who know a thing or two about these K5s

I just joined today, username is 76k5blazerr. I would love if some of you really experienced k5'ers would help me out with my new 76 K5. I will probably start posting and maybe start a build thread pretty soon here. Anyway i have a 76 k5 blazer with stock suspension, th350 that needs a new pump, np203 that has been converted to part time 4x4, dana 44 front axle and 12 bolt rear. It has no motor yet. im planning to build a 350 or buy a slightly used crate 350, im looking for around 350-400 hp. Would love to swap in sm465/np205 sometime in the future. Im happy to be on the forum and cant wait to start asking some questions.

Howdy everybody new to the site name is Ridge I have a 1983 k5 currently sitting on 37s with roughly 4 inches of lift 52/56 spring swap 10 bolt 8 lug spooled up front and 14 b in the back 350/465/208 drivetrain. Current plans are to swap my 14bff with another I have with 4.10 gears (instead of the 4.56s) for better highway use. While its out I will also be replacing the 56" spring as they are saggy and wore out! Then she will be road worthy as a semi dd.

Hey all.

I am going to have a bit of a different story than I a sure you guys are used too. Old school biker

here with 3 1/2 Harley's (3 plus a basketcase). I have never really been into 4x4ing until I picked up this 1986 K5 a few weeks back. Got it from a good friend when my wifes truck blew up. I had no idea it was anything special until I told my son that I would give it to him when he turns 16 (he just turned 15) and he did some research on a lift kit and found some great videos on youtube and then found this forum. Needless to say reading this forum and watching videos has him all excited and I have to say that his excitement has been quite contagious. We are already planning trips to the desert in and around southern California and I'm already starting to open the old check book check the balances and get that old fun feeling.

The motor is just the stock 305 fresh rebuild in it but I have a freshly rebuilt 350 over at my buddies shop that I am thinking about tossing in it. It also has a new tranny and they did a little work on the suspension but nothing major. Anyway, I look forward to hanging out and pouring over these forums and getting into this whole new world that has been opened up for us.

Nice meeting ya'll.

Hello, my name is Doug and thanks for having me. I live in Buffalo, NY.I currently own a 1987 Chevy Suburban R20. I love driving it and working on it. I look forward to your help and sharing my experiences.

Hey fellas, my name is Kyle and im 22 years of age. i own a 73 jimmy full convertible and love the truck to death. from louisiana and texas, but the service has brought me to Tacoma, WA for the time being. I joined because i always come to this site for answers to questions about my k5 anyway, so i figured i might as well join the badass company of k5 owners. i hope some of you guys live in my area, im looking forward to meeting (or typing in this case) all of you. cheers.

Kyle

Thank you for the support! im still trying to figure out how to navigate this site. lol

Glad to have yah Kyle:thumb:

If you want to start a build thread on your blazer do it in the garage under the sub category "the driveway build". Tech questions in the garage. Random discussion about whatever in the lounge. And the rest you'll figure out.

And, if you can spring for the $25 full membership fee, you will have access to pics and even more info available in other sections. If you like these trucks, it is well worth the admission. Along with a lot of good people here to hang with.

North Texas - 1984 K5 - CUCV - M1009 6.2l diesel

New member here, checking in.

Live in North Texas. Found you guys while troubleshooting my CUCV. (Military version of the K5, just in case someone might not know what a CUCV is) ;)

Here's what I have:
1984 M1009
75,000 miles
Converted to a 12v - Roscommon conversion (orig a 24v)
Bought it from a Sheriff's Dept here in Texas. They had the truck sitting in a field for 10 years before I bought it, site unseen, from an auction site here in Texas.

I finally got her up and running after some guys from another forum helped me to rewire it, properly. The Sheriff's Dept had hacked the wiring, badly.

She needs a new interior, but is almost there from a mechanical perspective.

What I've done:

New glow plugs (installed today) - ACDelco 13G's
glow plug relay installed last week
new starter
two new batteries
it has a Racor spin on fuel filter setup
new hoses
new tires
upgraded the headlights to Sylvania setup (works much better)
still have the blacklights setup

I'll post pics at some point in the near future.

I look forward to picking your brains on this project.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Newbie

New here, even though I've followed the site for info for a while now. I'm Chris, 28 yrs old. I live in Flagstaff, AZ. I own a 1978 GMC Jimmy Trailering Edition with a stock 454 and a 1987 Chevy Full size K5 Blazer with a 350 tbi. Both are automatic. The Jimmy is on 35s, has a stock rollbar, and bushwhacker fender flares. I just put a new radiator, fan clutch, stat and I'm rebuilding the power sterling pump now. Runs strong, but need a lot of interior work. The blazer also got a new radiator, fan clutch, and stat. The 350 purrs but has a small head leak. It is stock everything else. The blazer has a few rust holes in lower fender corners but in the spring I will be doing a complete frame off resto on it and rebuilding the 350 since I have to fix the head gasket anyways. I love the the k5/jimmy series and pick up extra parts when I come across them. I have a garage full, lol. I love classics all together and also own a 1950. GMC 3/4 ton pickup. Well that about sums up stuff. Glad to be a part of the site.
Thanks,
Chris
