Hello from CO

Hello. My name is Justin and I live in Littleton CO. I am the proud owner of a '72 Jimmy that I bought from a fellow Marine buddy. She needs a little TLC but she's a beauty. Looking forward to learning a bunch from this site and fellow members.

body lift

I have a 4 inch suspension lift 4 inch blocks in back and leaf springs in front on my blazer with 38.5 tires ..the tires are rubbing when I hit bumps or turn too hard on the fender wells can I use a body lift instead of buying a 6 inch suspension lift..don't want to fork out 500.00

First off, welcome to all the new guys. CK5 is a neat place. :thumb:

Second, this thread is just used to say hi and welcome aboard. Specific questions should be posted in the Garage section of the forum. Start a thread with your question/issue in the title and folks will show up with answers. I personally don't have an answer to your question, but you can see some of the tire/lift combinations that various members are running in this thread, which may give you an indirect answer. But definitely get a thread going in the garage.

New Guy in Atlanta

Hi, John P. checking in from 'The ATL'. Just bought a 1971 K5 & know very little about these great vehicles, but want to scale that learning curve.

Anyway, this vehicle is the following condition:
1) It has a solid body, but needs to be finished (some minor rust repair, filler/sanding & full paint work). All Glass is good. MIght need to get some trim.

2) Top is Good, but the rear hatch has a crack in the fiberglas @ the Rt Side Hinge

3) Interior is basically non-Existant except for the Dash, which is good (& seems to have a rare tachometer in the cluster). As such, I need to equip it w/ some seats, ditch the mini-doofus steering wheel & whatever else (floor covering?) was inside.

4) Suspension looks very solid & seems to be tight w/ no play.

5) Previous Owner says that I need to get new Driveshafts b/c the ones on there now were not done by a professional shop - I guess they're not balanced? Hopefully that didn't cause any damage to the drivetrain....

6) Engine looks OK, but did not have a starter, so I didn't hear it run. Hopefully it runs as well as described, but for the price I ain't expecting much. Same w/ the Transmission (3-on-tree) - btw, a small amount of fluid leakage (a couple of tablespoon-fulls over the course of a year) has dripped out.

7) BRakes - Allegedly good. They look OK, but won't know until I try to stop, right?

8) ELEC - nothing looks hacked.

Overall, this truck looks like it was fairly well kept & not run in the mud.

So fellas....can ya'll point me in some directions? I thank you in advance for all of the expertise to come.

Best Regards,
John P.

Your best bet would be to start a thread in the GARAGE. This is just a place to introduce yourself.

Are you keeping it a three speed?

Martin

wILL DO, THANKS mARTIN. btw, i DUNNO - i GUESS i'LL KEEP THE 3-sPEED. Oops...cAPs lOCk was on....sorry.

hey guys names brandon, came to show some progress on a 72 k5 I'm doing for my friends dad. one hell of a project. i want to start a thread on it when I'm permitted.

new guy

Hey everybody, new to the k5 game. Just bout a 1990 from my buddy. She runs good but when driving it feels as if it slips out of second and just revs. Fluid was low so I topped it off and adjusted the TV cable and still does It. Fluid didn't look the greatest so I'm about to change it out now. I'm a big diesel guy so I'll be on here learning all I can and asked questions, thanks.

sorry, its the gas 5.7, and im pretty sure the c3/4 clutches are shot.

As in diesel I meant I own a 07 duramax and my knowledge is consumed by that.

you can post in the Garage.. some of the other forums are for paying members only..

Do I have to pay to start a thread in the technical area? Because it says I don't have a membership or privelage to do so.
Like ryoken said, but the $25 for the membership is some of the best money you can spend if you're serious about owning a square body.
