Introductions & Greetings

Introduction

Just stopping in to say hello from Southern NJ and look forward to getting some ideas from the site and fellow members. Looks like I'll be getting back into the restoration and modifications of a 1983 Chevy Silverado Blazer that we kind of fell into and my son has decided that it should be our project for when he drives in just under 2 years. Always been a fan of lifted rigs of all types and went through a restoration back in 1986 for my first truck a 1977 Chevy Stepside which from what I can remember was in much worse shape than this rig. Anyway, one of my co-worker asked if I was interested in buying an older blazer which I wasn't but told him to send some pics. Ended up he knew an older gentleman who had recently passed away and his wife was selling off what she could. Picked up the truck for $250 with 153k on it and about 53k on a replacement goodwrench engine (305 but works for now). Won't be going as big as I did as a kid but should be a fun project. Truck comes home tomorrow and the fun begins.

Thanks guys but it def looks better in the pics, paint and body good but the hard top is little more beat up than I wanted, and of course the weather stripping is pretty much shot. Hopefully one day it will look like some of the ones on here, yall got some sweet rides.

Not to hijack a thread here but what's the waiting time till I can start one? Got a question I've searched for with no luck.

Hello everybody.

Hello my name is Gabe I'm from SoAZ I have a 83 k5 half ton 4x4 with a 6.2 diesel and a banks sidewinder turbo. Love it... any ways was wondering if anyone has experienced the front fenders flexing out when articulating out on trails and if so what could be the cause and how to fix or not worry about it. http://s374.photobucket.com/user/GASV16/library/

Welcome to CK5, stop in and say hello, this is a great place to make your first post and tell us a little about yourself/truck. :D
Hi my name is Kim, I own an 84 k5. I bought it last October and have been working on it non stop since. Luckily I haven't been working die to an injury. I have had to change the oil pan and gasket more than once actually I don't wanna say how many times, it's embarrassing, the transmission pan gasket, the valve cover gaskets, the EFE, EGR, plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor, blinkers, carburetor, air cleaner, and it still runs like ****. I am so frustrated at this point not sure what to do. I don't really know what I'm doing so its kinda trial by error which sucks because it's my only vehicle. No I don't have the money to take it anywhere. I need a miracle

probably be good to pull any codes.. all ya need is a paper clip... ask any question at all in the Garage Kim, We'll have the answer for ya...

…… I need a miracle

Your miracle is about to happen because you came to the right place. The guys here can diagnose and fix any problem you have. As mentioned, just start a thread with what the specific symptoms are and as much detail as possible. No sense in you just replacing parts in hopes that it'll go away - that's just a waste of time and money.
Hope you enjoy your stay here. :waytogo:

Hello all, this is my first time on CK5. After getting out of the jeep scene and going back to a full size I recently bought my second k5 (first one got stolen). It's an 86 with a 6.2 turbo diesel. Lots of mods: Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, lockers front and rear, Banks turbo, new interior, and rhino lined inside. First time owning a diesel, so have a lot to learn about them. Glad to be on the forum.

Welcome to CK5! That is a nice setup. The 6.2 diesel engines have a few quirks, but they are dead simple and very reliable. We can definitely teach you all sorts of 6.2 tech. Just start firing away with your questions in the Garage.
