Introductions & Greetings

Welcome @BigBad_HotRods

I see Greg should has already asked questions to get the build thread going. If you have trouble or questions, he’s been here a long time and can point you the way to go
Lots of other guys on here will be more than happy to answer questions as well, don’t be shy
Yep, Greg is my Sherpa for all thing 4x4 and K5 lol. He’s a good guide to have!

Hey everyone, Just joined the forum looking for a good place to chat squarebody 4x4's and seek a little advice for a project I am working on.

I am about to start a Resto / Restomod of a 1956 IHC S120. The working plan I have for the truck is to make it daily drivable so I can tour around the mountains and enjoy driving it. Nothing really crazy, no 40's and big blocks, just a well sorted old truck that will be at home on any gravel road or highway out west.

now onto the part that brings me here and not to some other forum:

To make my plans reality I am going to be swapping squarebody 4x4 suspension and axles into the truck to get "modern" and repairable parts. Also gearing options that are fit for a truck and not a tractor! This will be the biggest car project I have ever done so I will be around for a while.........

Obviously pics are coming soon as well as a proper post in the correct area but intros are important and a good place to start.

welcome aboard. Lots of experience here, as well as some enthusiasm. We love pics too!
hybrid makes are always an interesting combo.

Hey guys and gals. I’m Jason (diefst). I live in TN and recently purchased an unmolested (and unloved) ‘89 K5 for me and my son to “restore”ish. He loves lifted 4x4’s and I love Chevys. Always wanted a K5. First order of business is a compression check then a full running, driving and stopping restoration. Glad to have this forum to assist.

Welcome. This is the place to be for all things Chevy truck.

Start a build thread in the "driveway build threads" section so we can all follow along.

What part of Tennessee? A couple of us are near Knoxville.

Kudos on getting the kid involved. Lots of information here at your fingertips and lots of folks with the experience to help if you need it.

Welcome!

Hey. My name is Pat. I live in Oregon City, Oregon. Primarily a “snow wheeler guy. My son and I love the white stuff so much, we actually stay the night in it, no matter the depth or temperature. Looking for like, enthusiasts in our area, in all of Oregon, Washington, and maybe some Northern Cal. Hoping to learn a bunch of stuff here and support, with lots of QnA? I don’t have a bunch of time to spend online but hope I can meet some dudes or dudets, that love adventure.

There was someone up around there who just posted up not long ago about looking for others to play on the snow.
Unfortunately, I can't remember who.

Hi, newb to fullsize Chevy restorations as of three years ago or so when I started a restomod 1986 M1008/K30. That one is nearly complete. I used to restore Land Cruisers but they became too expensive. The K30 now has a Duramax L5p/Allison 1000 followed by an NP205. ORD lift w/highsteer and crossover, running 37's. Way too much to list. Paint is now done and finishing up the interior. Just recently picked up a 1990 Jimmy. I overpaid but it's bone stock and completely rust-free. It will be a DD while I decide what to do next. In the meantime it needs just a little maintenance.
