IR air ratchet

I'll say no, I've never used a ir air ratchet. theres no specs on it on that link you put up. but I've been useing a Mac 3/8" air ratchet for 3 or 4 years now. rated to 70 or 80 ftlbs-ish. its the tool I love to hate. it has the torque to pull out of your hand and smash the fingers and knuckles or break a wrist if you'r not paying attention. I can't give it up though for valve covers. most everything else small I use a IR 3/8 butterfly impact. really like that one. not alot of power but its fast light and easy to manuver.

Damn, do i have to do everything for you guys. If you click the space that says "specs" you would be able to see them. :D

Item Weight:2.7 lbs.
drive Size:3/8 in.
SCFM Delivery At 90 psi:3.0 SCFM
SCFM Use At 90 psi:3.0 SCFM
Torque Maximum:50 ft. lbs.

:doah: never saw that..........I saw too many adds to keep looking

50 ftlbs seems Ok. I'd keep then torque rating no higher than that. any more and it a bear to work with. well mine is anyways. does a good job but I hate useing it.

but Mac just released an impact air ratchet. no more busted knuckles. but its about $300 so depends on what you want right.

Well, my main purpose for this would be for tightening a bolt in a place where i couldn't fit an air gun. By tightening i don't mean super tight but rather to just bring the bolt into contact with the surface rather than having to keep turning a ratchet by hand.

Check out this one. I've had this ratchet for like 10 or 12 years now. I bought it off the Mac truck for less than $100 at the time.

What's really nice is that it doesn't jam your hand up in a tight spot. Because of that very reason, my Snap-on seldon leaves the tool box. And it will actually break bolts loose (to a degree), with a impact like action.

I traded my Snap-on 3/8 air ratchet (real POS) for a Mac ar778a about 3 months ago. I got a great deal so that really helped. Like Luke said about his it can bite the fingers because its got power. I use the gun more but its on the go to list. But if you are going to spend some cash get the reactionless one by IR. A couple of car technicians I know swear by those as hand savers.

Forgot to add, the open head design of those (the one from your link) can cause you grief and problems if you use it a lot.

i bout a craftsman pro series about 3yrs ago and i dont use it that often. so i cant really justify buying a ratcheless one......... we besides saying check this out lol

looks like you might want something more like this then. mac AR251.

Update, i bought the IR170 and just got to use it and i love the thing. Does not want to break your wrist when the bolt gets tight but has plenty of umph to get the job done.
