I made a nice buy on some 39.5 Irok Radials and wheels this weekend. They had never been mounted (brand new). Anyway i mounted them up on my blazer and noticed that 1 tire is mounted backwards. I'm assuming these are directional tires cause they have rotation arrows on them. Is it bad to run 1 backwards?

If he moves it where it's going the right direction there will still be one somewhere going backwards.

yea thats what i was tryin to picture in my head, i would think if one was wrong there should be another so you could switch them, but i guess not? hmmm...

Why don't you just take it down to the tire shop and have that tire remounted? Wont cost you much.

rr

prolly cost $50

I will evently fix it i was just wondering if it would hurt something to drive for a while like this

Try Wal-Mart. If it'll fit on they're machine it's $3.50 per tire to mount, you just have to carry them in. They can't be on a vehicle. Tire spoons are another option, once you get a set you'll wonder how you got along without them.

walmart cant do it, i tried to get my 35s mounted and they wouldnt do anthing over a 33. maybe thats just here though.
and whats a tire spoon?

How did you get the tires mounted in the first place?

I'd certainly turn it around. You can buy a couple tires spoons at harbor freight for cheap.

A tire spoon is kinda like a huge flathead screwdriver, they're used to manually mount tires.

i bought already mounted and balanced.
i did one of my 42" tires and that was the last tire i will ever do. bout killed myself.

I was kinda hoping someone could shed some light on what makes a tire directional and why its important they go the right direction.

feeding mud out of the sides of the tire rather than diggin it into the center of the tire and just piling up and caking in the tread. the farthest end of the spectrum is the chevron tread of the ag tires.

Les Schwab should be able to do it. I think they are around $15 if you want it balanced.

I doubt it hurts it to run it that way, but it may wear differently than the others. People run Boggers backwards all the time, but usually run all of them that way:D

A lot of people run the IROK's backwards. Stops them from chunking so bad. Do a search on google and you find about a 50/50 split. Most say they did not notice any difference in traction. Depends on the conditions I guess.

Walmart can do it they are just scared of big tires. I had them dismount and mount a set of 39.5 boggers before.

yep i bought 35s from wallmart in california.they came right off the shelf.maybe just certain wallmarts will mess with oversize tires.i think it was 10 bucks a tire extra to mount and balence.

its just and optical illusion.... spin in 3 circles really fast and look at it again and you wont notice it
