I am looking at getting some bigger rubber than the 38x13r16's that I have right now, even though they have lots of tread left on them:doah:. I am probably crazy, but I want 42's bad, I dont think I will be happy with any thing smaller, even though I found an awesome deal on some 39.5's, I just dont think they would suffice!

So, to my question. Would you all recomend the Iroks, or the TSL's? I have had a couple of sets of TSL's now, and am happy with them. I run in mostly mud, sand, and downed logs. Im sure the TSL's are better mud tires, but was thinking the iroks may be lighter and the slightly less aggresive tread might be easier to spin and kinder on drivetrain parts. But on the other hand, im worried the Iroks may not be aggresive enough, and I have heard they wear fast?

Also, my k5 is on about 5-6" of total lift. I should be able to fit 42's with enough trimming right? I want to keep overall height fairly low, and I am pretty much not concerned with cutting the ol girl up!

The IROKs aren't less aggressive, they are just more oriented towards rocks rather than mud.

For your use, I would recommend the TSL's.

And as for fitting 42's, you will need to move the front axle forward or the tires will contact the firewall.

I have been planning on 52's up front, so that should move the front axle forward a bit. I was also thinking that I could limit my up-travel some if need be to prevent rubbing.

As far as how aggressive the tread is. I havent seen many iroks in person I guess, so I am mainly judging them by pictures and the smaller sized iroks that I have seen. My buddie has 42" TSL's on his truck, and I am always amazed at how big the lugs are on them suckers!

I am kind of leaning towards the TSL's though i guess. I am kind of concerned about my tired old tbi 350 being able to spin them, even with 5.13's! With my 38's, it spins them good in low range, in 1st gear, but once it grabs 2nd, it really dogs out!

The lugs on the Iroks are smaller than the TSL's but they have excellent traction in everything from what i have seen and heard. I was going to buy 39.5" iroks but my heart is set on the LTB 40's now

I was in the same debate iroks are more street friendly and perform awsome ofroad no complaints. I was running 39.5 and went to the 42 i have a 4" lift 1" body heres a pic. I did alot of triming i have not had it off road yet bet the axle does and will be going forward. If ya want more pics check my build this was the fender cuts before with 39 and before i went at it.

I have never been overly impressed with IROKs in the AZ rocks. I personally would go with TSL's or LTB's which have proven to hook up well here and chunk alot less. I know your not in AZ but I still think TSL's or LTB's are a better tire. The only IROK's that I have ever seen hookup well are stickies which doesn't count.
