Is a 87 Wiring harness same as a 89 wiring harness?

I need to make sure the 87 is compatible to the 89 harness... does anyone know?

I'm rewiring the underhood.. and hopefully underdash... does anyone now if the 87 tbi engine harness from firewall to all under hood stuff the same as a 89 tbi ?
I'm trying to restore my veh ... I need to redo the wiring first..

It they aren't exactly the same, they should be pretty damn close. But it'll take some study to determine what, if any changes took place over those 2 years.

My main concern is getting the proper alternator hookup's from the firewall to the engine..
Serious hack job from the previous owner. I've been slowly tracking wires down.. splicing them together.. but I'm not a huge fan of many splices...
