Is a TH400 with a 203 output shaft a different length than a TH400 with an NP205?

May be a stupid question. Quick glance through google didnt answer the question.

Currently have a TH400/NP203 in a truck that I just got.

I've got a TH400/NP205 sitting in the garage and wanted to know if I can just bolt the 205 up with the TH400/NP205 adapter that's currently attached to it.

I have the correct length drive shafts for everything so that wouldn't be an issue.

100% not a bolt in.

There are a bunch of different output shafts for TH400. Within the 32 spline outputs, the 203 version is the shortest and doesn't work with an NP205 alone.

Yes it will bolt up. But no it will not work.

Getting a th400 is a super simple process. It doesn't require anything except a 12pt socket that I'm 90% sure is a 13mm. Or a 12mm.

AHHH NOW I REMEMBER! I was about to say that I just helped a guy with this exact swap a month or so ago on a K-5. Then I remembered we DID use a stub shaft. Not sure where he got it but it made it a bolt in.

Care to elaborate on what that was or where it came from?

Thanks for the info fellas. I'll leave the 400/203 alone for the time being.

I've got a 400/205 and 350/205 at my disposal so I'll get around to swapping the entire trans/t-case out a little later down the road.

When you are ready to do this swap I will give you the warn winch bumper for your th400/203
