I have a blazer with a turbo 350 and 513 front and rear...i have reacently got in my possesion a crate motor 350....just a stock 265 hp 350...i dont know if i wanna get in to the motor or just put it in like it is and go big block later...is this thing gonna be a pig on the road with 513 and a stock motor...or will the gear help me stoplight to stoplight and it be farily quick..i dont really wanna get into the motor cause i wanna drive the truck sooner then later...

Ha, in your profile also :D

I have my stock 350/4L60/5.13s on 37s - I love it! OD is now mandatory and it will suck the fuel if you push it 65 and over.

BB will be bad, don't know how/if it can get much worse.

it'd be comparable to running 3.90s with stock 235s, so around town it shouldnt be bad at all. the highway might be a bit different story spinning about 3000 at 65.

im not so worried about the highway...i just would like to be able to be quick on the street and be able to lite the tires up every now and then..

Well a big block is gonna suck a ton of gas anyways. Since the motor isnt in the truck, it would be a perfect time to just do some easy mods to it. I would suggest some nice heads, a performer intake manifold, headers, possibly a cam that can produce low rpm torque. All of these things together can produce some nice power gains, and can be done fairly easy (especially with the motor out of the truck).

you see lack of money plus i wanna be able to pop a motor in and go...i built a mild motor for my last blazer and i took me close to a year just to build...the most i would do would be a cam and intake...my buddy has a 383 long block if i had the money to build anything..but having 513s is already gonna suck gas dont wanna add to gas concumption...

some power add ons actually help gas mileage too. with my 3.73s 35s and and sm465 with a stock 350 I got around 10mpg. added a mild cam, headers, performer intake, rebuilt q-jet, and a new cap and rotor and now I get around 15mpg and have noticably more power.
