Is it safe?

My pickup has two cherrybombs on it and it does sound pretty good--not offensive, and a nice low rumble...but just when it starts to sound great when you boot it,the govenor kicks in...:(..

The worst was driving to the exhaust shop with open headers to get my exhaust done. That was loud.
Yes it is loud. Even idle shakes everything around. I played dumb and asked the exhaust guy if my truck was supposed to be that loud while he looked under.

I think we've all seen sedans on the road with a blown rear strut and the tire is constantly bouncing off the road. But a solid axle with leafs has so much more mass I don't see how that could happen. And like was mentioned before, just because there is something that looks like a shock bolted to that corner doesn't mean it does anything anymore. I've seen junk haulers bounce about 3 times after the railroad tracks and that's probably about what zero damping looks like.

I once went to a quicky exhaust place to put some axle forward dumps on my Monte Carlo SS. It had open headers.
I rolled in with it on the trailer and asked how long it would be. They said they could get me right in and it would only be a few minutes.

I went out and unloaded the car. I was running a sbc400 with a gear drive.
Intake/carb/ headers.... NOTHING FANCY AT All!!!

As I turned around, every one in the place was standing and drooling over the sound of open headers and a gear drive..

Those exhaust monkeys were tripping over themselves to get the hood popped open and see the car.

Makes me laugh to this day. It was like watching kids at chuck-e-cheese.

I hate loud exhaust. But if any obnoxious combination works out, this is the one.

Not that I'm keeping the glasspack exhaust on my own rig.

I dont "like" loud exhausts either, mostly because I do not like attracting the attention of police or getting tickets..
I chose the cherry-bombs mostly due to the fact Advanced Auto had them in stock for only $20 each, and I had a grand opening discount coupon --cost me about $30 for two of them..

I put them on the truck in 2011,and they still have all the red paint on them, even though they are mounted pretty far back, close to the rear axle--they'll probably outlast the rest of the truck..
Despite being told a diesel will clog up glasspacks with soot, you cant prove it by me,they sound the same as day one and still flow just as well too..
I've never had any trouble passing inspection with them either--they are quiet enough at idle so all you'll hear is the usual clatter-rattle of the 6.2 over the exhaust..
