Is It Worth Balancing Big Boggers?

i run my 35s unballanced, (im too cheap for $8 a tire) can't really tell a difference. i don't have swampers though. mines a DD also

This won't be a DD, but with all the dough I'm putting into the truck, I don't have the money for a trailer right now. So it's gonna have to be driven 30-60 miles to the trail and back. That's the only reason I'm concerned about balancing, otherwise I'd have no problem with the thing driving like a paint shaker.

Oh yeah, one more question...how much equal is "enough"? I'd never run BB's in tires and the golf ball thing kinda scares me because of noise and impact.

Dude....Throw 6-8 Titlest, or what ever brand you like, in there and be done with it. The noise is barely noticeble at all, and it will AMAZE you at how good it works. Normally we use BB's (about 25 Hundy or so:grin: ) in smaller tires (i.e. 36 TSL's) and other meaty-meats, but for your 40's, use the golf balls.

If you dont like it, you can always take them out. There is a truck we put BB's in 2 years ago, and when he got new tires, there WAS NO NOTICEBLE WEAR IN SIDE>>>>>...

It's a tire balancing product.

oh ok JW, sounds like a dumb question but how do you get the golf balls/ bb's in? just have it barely hanging off rim and throw them in there then mount on rim, and how do you kno how much of either to put in?

Well, people of done a bunch of trail/error, but the main thing is, you cant really put too many in there. Due to centrifugal (sp?) force, what ever is not needed, will just even out throughout the tire as its rolling. Like I said earlier, 2500 or so BB's, or 6-8 golf balls for the bigger meats.

Edit...oh yeah, throw them in there when you are mounting the tires. If they are already on the rims, pull it off the truck, brake on of the beads, place in side, then re-seat the bead.
