is my frame bent that bad?

What about the stock crossmember position? Does the crossmember fit correctly here? I noticed on my K5 that with a crossmember bolted up in the stock spot the doubler position would have a gap to deal with but I don't think it'd be as much as your pic.

It's hard to tell from your pix, but on mine, the second crossmember, for the Doubler, does require a spacer which wasn't level. I think mine was about an inch thick in front, maybe an inch and a half in back.

Yours does look farther than that though. I'll see if I can find pix of the spacers I made.

Also, you might wanna have this moved to the Garage, unless you intend to turn into a full build thread.

Its the doubler adapter that the cross member is bolted too. And I didn't even realize that it was in the driveway. Mod could you move it to the garage plz. Not clockked ethier just standard rotation too. I'm goin to look at it better in the morning and get some better pics. Hard to tell about the stock location since I'm useing a th400/ford 205adapter for the 203 adapter.

Maybe Chris from ORD will see this and chime in (if it looks wrong or he has some suggestions).

Why the odd Ford adapter? Is it an AA part?

Yea I'm thinking I'm just cut the crossmember ends off so its flat and bend up some tubing and welding it to the cross member and makeing it work. Couldn't find 400/203 combo when I was shopping. Dealing with that adapter is pretty easy. I'm just goin to use a 1.5" piece of square tubing. For a spacer and just mod a stock cross member like on ord's website.

It would need 2-3" lift and I think it would mess with the drive line angles. I guess after wheeling and wrenching on this truck for so long I forgot what a clean one looked like Lol. The frame is touching The body at the highest point. This frame has hasd a hard life. I beat on it hard and the PO did too.

Thanks trusty, butclooking at how flat my trans looks and the doubler is hanging at a harsh angle. Everything is bolted up tight. Could my adapter (th400/203) be bent? On the passenger side its gaped at 2"-2.5" and drivers side its 2.5"-3" but the jack is more on the passenger side. And when you look straight up at the frame while lying on my back the frame is a lot wider the Its suppose to be where the bolt holes barely line up with the frame rails on both sides.. I'm thinking I'm goin to use some 2.5x2.5 .250 square tubing and weld it to the frame maybe cut the ends off at a angle.

Mine's a TH350-203-205, but did require some weird spacing for the second cross member:

OK now I feel a lot better. Yea I think my frame is just pushed up an inch. Cuz man your frame is straight! Lol How did you make the front crossmember work around the drive shaft? I think I'm goin to use some c channel.

My '205 is clocked up ... some... I forget. 2" maybe? I did it for ground clearance under the '205, but the unintentional side effect is that the front shaft gets more clearance too.

Also all the motor and tranny and t-case mounts are poly, which keeps all the pieces closer in tolerance, though I use that word loosely.

Anyway, the front shaft just clears the crossmember even at full droop. There's more vertical movement of the shaft at the front, of course; at the back by the crossmember it only goes up and down a bit. If the crossmember were even an inch further forward there'd be all kinds of interference.

If you gotta do it, IIRC the ORD website has that pic of the one with the C-channel welded in, looked pretty stout.

thanks for the picture! I have a 203/205 doubler and shifters ready to install. mine is also clocked up 2". I have three or four of those cross members so it looks like I'm golden.

Dremu, why the 3rd crossmember?

Skidplates were off in that photo:

They are factory style; the passenger side one is original, and the driver's side is a reproduction by me from a piece of 1/4" plate to match, but mirrored so the hole for the tranny mount is in the right place.

I really do need to update my build thread :doah:

Some of my booty fab. I think I'm going to add some plate to the outside running verticals. To help keep it from flexing.
