Is schedule 40 pipe strong enough?

I worked for hd supply and we carried A53 plain end and t&c (threaded and coupled) black iron pipe. Is this what you are using to do cages? I have thought about using it. I know tat there is better tubing out there but dont have the money for the good stuff.

I don't think Brook has been active on here since like 2005. Here is his build thread on his site (he runs alaska4x4network.com) http://www.alaska4x4network.com/showthread.php?t=4639&page=21.

I think Speedo is still on here from time-to-time though.

What I use is listed exactly in your quote. A53E. What you speak of is an incomplete assessment of the material because we do not have a type modifier.

I finally bent a piece of tubing my my roll cage, I have a video of the roll but dont know how to compress it. I kinda fell off a rock pile filled with mud and hit a rock with the bar above the drivers side window. Here are some pictures of the roll.

There is no doubt, there are better materials, but for my application and many others, the pipe is good enough. I'm satisfied with it after countless flops, and one solid roll in the rocks.
