Is there a Shelf life on synthetic oil?

Well, I found some Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil on my shelf. After about three years, on the shelf,.........is it still good. I can't read the date on it. There is some sort of numbers printed on the bottom, but I can't read them either.

So what do you guys think?

I'm running 5 year old castrol syntec /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

and no it hasn't been in the motor 5 years..it was on a shelf.
