Like Dremu's brochure pages kind of? Is there somewhere I can find old list prices? Some kid was in the bar interrupting my conversation with someone else about a potential K5 purchase. He was going off on his old man's 1972 K5 he bought brand new off the show room floor for $5,000. I thought that sounded high for 1972.

it does sound high... no verifiable help but, iirc most cars where in the 3 g range.. and vettes of that day where like 4800 to 5 g's, and vettes where always a couple grand more than anything else..

The base price is listed on the specs page but I'm sure you want more concrete evidence than that.

I'm pretty sure my dad bought his (now my) 72 K5 for $3600. I'll see if I can dig through some old paperwork to find the exact price.

I'm pretty sure even the highlander blazer was under 4 grand. I'm pretty sure that was the most options you could have at the time. It had the cst package and the upgraded seat inserts and body trim.

I find that pretty high up there for 72 considering the strikes and emissions disasters of the time. Honestly the only thing I can think of that could be worth anywhere near 5k at THAT time would be some sort of Mopar or maybe a special dealership only type car, Yenko, Shelby and the like come to mind. Considering the top of the line LS6 454 70 Chevelle was around 3800$ and the Vettes were a bit higher than that. I find it hard to believe a K5 as much as I like them was worth more or sold for more than the top of the line muscle cars of the 70s.

I've got good news and bad news. First the good. I found the original bill of sale. Bad news is I was wrong .... and worse, the kid at the bar was ..... well, I'll let you see for yourself.

And I found all the cancelled checks for the payments if you're interested. They were $129.95 per month.
