does anyone here know what front axle would be under an '01 F250? I found one, but didn't know how to identify if it was a 60, or a 44. it didn't have kingpins...but don't the late model D60's have balljoints? I also didn't see a 44 or 60 stamped on the front, like the older ones have. I don't really have a use for a ford axle...at least not til I get ready to do the SAS on the '99 ... but I thought if it was a 60, maybe I could pick it up, and find someone who needed a ford one, that might trade a chevy one for it? so...anyone know what these came with? surely they wouldn't put a little ol' 44, under those big ass trucks...would they?

oh yeah, I forgot about them having those damn 50's. is there any way to tell which one of them it is? any particular thing to look for? they did also have a dually axle out of a an F350. I know it was a D60....but, I also know they wanted more for it.

Unless you are changing transfer cases you need a ford 60 to do the SAS. If you can pull the cover on the axle. A dana 50 and 60 look the same on the outside but the 50 has a lot of extra material inside the case and runs a smaller ring gear. There was a huge right up on the dana 50 in Petersons about a year ago. Might try looking at their website to see what you can find.

i think all of the early year fords maybe 99-03's the 350 was a dually. no 350 single rear wheel.

kinda like the GM 2500hd being srw, and the 3500hd being a dually. i beleive that now you can get a srw 3500 now, but dont quote me on that.
