Just a quick question.... Is this a 60 or 44? Looks round-ish like a 44. But I don't see any way to put another Ubolt on the passenger side.... No room, or groove for it

Only pic is from a distance with a hubcap on.... It's pics on CL. I'll post that one

Only pic of the end. Add says it's a 3/4 ton Chevy frame. But that 1 u bolt pic confused me.

Shape of the cover has me thinking it's a 44 though

Its definitely a 44. The easy way to tell if its a Dana 60 is the diff cover. The bolt for oil filling is on a raised section of sheetmetal, basically one step higher than it currently is.

The lockouts on the ends are also a giveaway. Dana 60s are 4inches in diameter.

also 4 bolts were ball joint nut would be . = 60 .

I think there unit is just missing the 4th ubolt on the diff side in the pic .

and true 1ton frames have rear shocks mounted on the inside of the frame rails over the 1/2-3/4 ton stuff on the outside of the frame rails.

if good and clean axles and hub caps I would say its a decent deal for 500 for the axles / rims / caps if you want that stuff.

I'm gonna have to pass on it anyway so because I have 2months to save up for my vacation.... Other deals will come I guess.

The shock mount tells me it's probably a gm axle missing a ubolt.

I agree, it looks like the groove is there for the missing U-bolt. So, not to hijack but what's the deal with all the crappy quality pics on Craigslist? Every add I see has absolute horrible quality pictures anymore.

There were rare ball-joint 60's, but there were never king-pin 44's. Sometimes people mistake the large-lockout 44's for 60's, but the U-bolt/stud and king-pin setup will tell you.

Closed knuckle Dana 44's use kingpins, they look sorta like D60 ones but smaller. Dodge D44's use studs instead of a 4th u-bolt. Neither is an absolute way to ID a D60.
