Is this a good deal / are these reliable lockers?

GM factory POSI for the 9.5" 14 bolt semi-floating rear (GM RPO code G80 Eaton Locking Differential). Also commonly referred to as a LOCKER.

That would be the govbomb that no one likes, but your easy on it I'd say it would be ok. Im sure someone else will chime in on its reliability though.

Is a welded rear OK for daily driving? I daily drove a detroit locked rear, and that didnt bother me at all.

Could you DD a welded rear, sure, should you or would I, no. A detroit will allow a tire to "freewheel" when conering under light or no power situtations a welded rear, like a spool, will not allow one tire to travel faster then the other resulting in constant tire squealing around corners. A welded rear while perfetly acceptable for a trail only or a rig that see's very limited street time is generally considered a no-no for a rig that is going to see a decent amount of stret miles.

Yeah don't go out of your way to put a gov lock into your truck. That would be a good deal on a replacement, if you already had one that was busted, and just wanted to slap it back together.

Now riddle me this...
is THIS a good deal?

and I have been trying to find out for quite a while if it will fit a "normal" SF14 bolt, or if there is something different about the rear of an H2...

because there is also this:

What is the difference between these two lockers? Can't just be the price. Can it?

Very interested in the story on those Elockers from teh hummer. I REALLY want one of those in my 91 14bolt sf.

So i'm bringing this post back up to see if we can get some answers.

Is there a difference in the locker/gear requirements on a H2 rear end, and a regular old 14 bolt SF? I'd love to put the elocker from a H2 rear end in my burb.....is there a conflict i don't know about>?

I'd love to run this setup in my tow rig/DD.

my buddy got his factory posi unit from a 14bsf that was under a ss trailblazer, it was a clutch pack style eaton posi. The customer complained about it being to harsh, so they swapped it with a new one under warranty and the old one cleared the parts department as trash, and is now in my buddies 03 1500...

I thought that eaton posi/locker unit wast the same thing as the old govbomb?

Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt that unit a locker when under 20mph in a straight line and a posi the rest of the time?

Eaton is a big company and makes more than one differential;) Among others they make a differential named "Posi" which is a preloaded clutch pack style limited slip. Many years ago I ran one in a front 10-bolt with the carbon fiber clutches, and you could get different spring rates (more spring rate = more "posi").
