I'd like to eventually upgrade my blazer. I've been searching on craigslist and found this. It has the right gears, a Dana 60 front and it runs. The problem is, I don't have that much garage space or land. Then what would I do with the truck after I gutted the drivetrain? I'm thinking that I should just upgrade piece by piece instead of dealing with a whole truck to disassemble. What do you think?

Here is the ad.

1984 Chevy 1 ton Diesel. Truck has turbo 400 trans, Dana 60 front end and corp. 14 bolt rear with 456 gears and a locker in the rear. Truck runs excellent and overall cab is in good shape. I bought the truck to build a mud truck with and now decided to sell. With a little work this truck could be a daily driver. The truck has 32000 original miles. This truck would also make a great swamp buggy or hunting buggy. I will not trade just looking to sell. 1750.00 firm

sounds good to me. everything should be there you would need to swap those parts to yours, then sell the cab to some sucker from the north.

looks like a good idea to me.if i had the cash i would definitely do it.you can swap out what you want over a weekend with some help from a buddy and a case of beer.then you put your stuff under it that you dont want and resell it for a grand and still have all the running gear you want.

That's a great deal! You could pull the axles and sell the rest for at least 800 bucks. The engine would sell easily. I might be interested in the cab, fenders, clip and hood. I'd also be interested in the flatbed if it is metal.

I like the "utility" of the blazer as opposed to a single-cab truck. I have a family/dog to tote around.

Lol I think a flatbed/utility body has more utility to it than a blazer.

A blazer has a family friendly appeal to it :D

Heres one thing burbs and blazers will always have over pickups, SLEEPING SPACE.

Once the cage goes on my bed I'll be fabbing up a platform to pitch a tent ontop of the truck like all the expedition guys have...

looks a CUCV to me! if the vin in the data tag starts with 1gchd then it will have a limited lip in the front too.. I'd offer 1500

then that deal sounds even better.the axles you want and lockers already installed.at that milage nothing should be too beat up either.
