Thinking os swapping out 91 tbi for this. Blazer mainly used for towing tent trailer and easy trail 4 wheeling. Opinions?
Also I don't have a clue about diesel engines.....

"82 6.2l diesel, the best year for rebuilding due to block metal quality, had it bored .040 over with all new Mahle pistons, rings, bearings, chain, etc...
Mostly assembled, all by ex-military mechanic with hummer 6.2l experience (not me)... really nice job so far, but time to move on and have to part with it.
Crank was also turned at machine shop in Rohnert park...Performance something... have a ton of money into this project... nearly $2000. It's sooo close to complete for someone who knows what they are doing...
$800 with stand and cherry picker."

First don't ever buy a 6.2 project, if it's not complete and running, you better run.
Second the crank should not be turned unless they can nitride it afterwards.
In my opinion you should stick with your engine unless it's done then the easier solution would be the direct replacement.

After reading up about diesel crankshafts I kinda figured the turned crank didn't sound right. Thanks!

That is a good deal. I was quoted about $3k for a 6.2 rebuild. I'd talk to the guy and get all the info I could. He doesn't sound like he really knows what he's talking about. Talk to the guy who rebuilt it and the machine shop. I seriously doubt the crank was turned. They are not machinable and that military mechanic would know that. '82 and any original CUCV block is high nickle.

That was my point, he spent $2000 plus the expert turned the crank, so I wouldn't trust anything he did.
You can easily waste $$$ on a 6.2 rebuild, it's much better to get a good running engine weather rebuilt or not.
I have gone thru some so I am speaking from experience.
I have 5 boat anchors sitting in my garage now waiting to be stripped from good parts and scrapped because of my haste in buying.
No more.
:dunno:

Yep I don't really need it and I've thrown enough $$'s away on this truck. I was looking at diesel for better fuel economy but the 350 still runs strong so there's no hurry to buy something now.
