I have a GM350 with a Q jet carb and a 700rd trans and it idles at about 1000 RPM and never gets over 2300 RPM when shifting, is this a good RPM to get the most power??
Thanks
-Chris

first off, your 1000rpm idle is too high, it should idle around 750-800 in park/neutral and around 650 in gear. as for your actual rpm question, what are you trying to do with the truck? mud racing? trail riding? fuel economy? too many different variables, your rpm range for fuel economy wont be the same as your rpm range for mud racing. we need to know what you're doing with the truck to determine what a good rpm range is.

I dont do any mud racing, I do some mud bogging and mostly trail rides, I dont really care about MPG I just want as much power as I can get.

There isn't squat for power at 2300 RPM. You need to get to 4500-5000 before you see any reasonable horsepower.
